Today I talked to some people who left the Miami area. They had flown into Miami for a vacation to visit family. Since the hurricane was about to hit, they decided to leave. Fortunately they called in advance to rent a car since they knew there would probably be no airline flights available. It took them over 2 hours to go 40 miles because of the heavy traffic in south Florida. Gas and water were hard to find and people in Walmart were fighting over water. Most of the gas stations in Florida were out of gas. They are driving through Mississippi on the way back to Texas.

It makes you think about how fragile our normal lives are. There really is just a very thin boundary between normalcy and chaos. Can you imagine the looting that's going happen across Miami in the aftermath of the storm, if not before.
