"Our tempo wasn't what I wanted it to be, but that's the to be expected in game one. Part of that was on me because I asked Shea (Patterson) to feel comfortable and if he needed to take a little time to operate a play, take the time. In the weeks to come, however, we will get faster and faster."

Up tempo is great when it works, but when it doesn't, the time of possession is low and the defense (which is already bad) gets worn out.

Yep. I think we should just embrace our strengths and keep our O wide open and hope we can beat everyone 50-something to 40-something. But then I think about our terrible OL play and realize that we will just lose to good teams 20-something to 50-something

But, but, but.......we were told that ML has been stockpiling OL and that THIS WAS the year they'd FINALLY mature...."A strength of the team" I believe I heard countless times... Wonder what the excuse will be this time....so far they're all healthy and not suspended..... Maybe it'll be Shea's fault for running around so much!

And that former HC with tons of NFL experience was going to manage this group of elite talent.
Will only get worse. Teams know they can't stop our passing game but they can stuff the run easily so it makes us one dimensional. With no threat of a run game the passing game and lanes get much tighter. All of the "space" and "grass" we hear Longo harping on isn't going to be there. No one to block the defense up front and we may be lucky to see Shea finish the season. He will likely be running for his life on the snap of every play.
