Roseanne
What are your thoughts about the Roseanne show getting canceled over her monkey remarks. Honestly, with this day in age, she should have known better than to make a stupid comment like that simply because people are so easily offended about nothing. I think the cancellation of her show was a bit extreme.

Unfortunately, we are in a politically correct society where some things that might not be extreme to someone are extreme to others. People should be able to express their opinions without having to worry about society condemning their actions. It must not be right for Roseanne to express her opinions, but Louis Farrakhan can call for an end to white men without any repricussions? The cancellation of her show was severe, even though it had the highest ratings.

ABC abruptly canceled “Roseanne” hours after Ms. Barr, the show’s star and co-creator, posted a racist tweet about Valerie Jarrett, an African-American woman who was a senior adviser to Barack Obama throughout his presidency and considered one of his most influential aides. Ms. Barr wrote if the “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”

You know what else I am tired of? All of the knee-jerk reactions. It used to be that you had to be convicted of something before you were punished but now a mere accusation and BAM! you are guilty.

She has always been a loose canon.....Crass...lewd....obnoxious. When she grabbed her crotch while destroying the national anthem I refused to ever watch her again.....
That being said..... Firing her was a bridge too far. Her comments were made as her own.....she wasn't representing the show or network..... She was canned for offending the left with her right to free speech.... The thought police are alive and well.
It's just my thought but I suspect ABC was looking for a reason to fire her....her support for Trump couldn't be allowed to continue on a sitcom..... To see that you have to look no further than how the left is now trying to tie her to Trump as though her comments are shared by Trump.....

Yeah, they got rid of Last Man Standing because it was a right-leaning sitcom too. Same network, ABC.

Mmmmm Hmmmm.....good point.... I'd forgotten about that one...... Yet no matter how vile the attacks on POTUS or any conservative or Christian no one ever loses a job permanently..... Go figure.....

It would not be surprising to see another network pickup the new Roseanne show. The ratings were high, she has a cult following, and the updated show has created a new group of young fans. If someone thinks they can make some money, then they will probably pick up the series. You can almost be assured that Roseanne's agents are shopping her new show to other potentially interested parties.

I agree.....that's why I haven't watched her over the last 20+ years..... But the irony of her being skewered by her own kind is poetic justice....... even though I find that kind of punishment dangerous..... A celebrity has a right to free speech too....no matter how much I might disagree with it..... When you begin to gag free speech it's a short trip to tyranny....
