It avoids what could've been an ugly primary in the Wicker race, one that maybe McDaniel didn't think he could win. He's asking the state GOP to rally behind him as the party's choice to replace Cochran, but the governor will appoint someone else who will then go into the November special election as the "incumbent" senator. Either way, Mississippi politics are never boring. LOL

I don't care for McDaniel so much as I was hoping somebody would replace Wicker.... I might write in Mickey Mouse......

I voted for McDaniel in 2014, and was pretty mad at the Cochran campaign/state GOP for encouraging Dem voters to cross over in the primary runoff (a violation of state law). I have since cooled on McDaniel considerably. I doubt he wins either race, but he could potentially help the Dems win Cochran's seat.

Well....I think it's safe to assume the state GOP will run another RINO.......so yeah, that should give the Dem in the race a pretty good opening,.,,,,,
