Not mine. I'm referring to the HGTV show obviously copied off of Chip/Joanna Gaines on Fixer Upper. I really like the show, as that genre goes. I've never been to Laurel, and while the show makes it seem like a very appealing place, I've wondered what it's really like considering the racial make up is 60/30 black/white. If I ever leave Memphis when I retire I'm as likely to end up along/near the gulf coast somewhere between the north shore of Lake Ponchartrain and lower Alabama as anywhere else. Laurel is too small and off the beaten track for my liking, but the show has made me curious about what it's really like.

If I were to ever live in Mississippi, my top choices would be Hattiesburg or somewhere on or near the MS Gulf Coast, like Ocean Springs, Bay Saint Louis, Pass Christian, or Gulfport. I do not have any desire to be north of Hattiesburg, unless of course someone gave me a $3.5M job!!!

I've heard a lot about Ocean Springs and what a neat community that is. THE ONLY drawback about the coast that I've come up with is the hurricane threat. I've been thru several during the years I lived in south Louisiana, but never anything like Camille or Katrina. It only takes one to drastically change your life.

I have truly enjoyed watching this show when I see it on. 2 seemingly good folks and Ole Miss Grads to boot. I am glad they got a show and a chance to help any town in MS to better itself. To the point that I want to go to Laural for a long weekend sometime.
