Ole Miss recruiting: All of Rebels’ 2018 de-commitments

Ole Miss recruiting: All of Rebels’ 2018 de-commitments

Ole Miss has 4 de-commitments in its 2018 class.

National Signing Day is set for Wednesday, Feb. 7. With that in mind, we take a look back at some of the players who were at one point members of the Ole Miss’ 2018 recruiting class before they opted to take their services elsewhere.

The Rebels have watched 4 players de-commit from their class, but only one has backed off his pledge since the start of August.

3-star offensive guard Blaine Scott (Portsmouth, Ohio) — signed with West Virginia
Of the 4 de-commitments, Blaine Scott is the highest ranked. He backed off his pledge to Ole Miss on July 30, just days after Hugh Freeze had been removed as coach. The offensive guard had been committed since May 5, 2017.

Scott committed to West Virginia on Oct. 17 and he stuck with that commitment. The 587th-ranked player in the country — according to 247Sports — has already enrolled at West Virginia.

3-star defensive tackle Allen Love (Birmingham, Ala.) — signed with Louisville
Since Matt Luke was named the full-time coach, Allen Love is the only commit to back off his pledge to Ole Miss. The Alabama defensive tackle, who had been committed since June 8, de-committed on Dec. 11. On Dec. 14, Love committed to Louisville and on Dec. 20 he signed with the program.

Love is listed at 6-foot-3 and 285 pounds. He is the No. 699-ranked player in the class and the No. 53-rated defensive tackle.

3-star cornerback Jaylin Williams (Germantown, Tenn.) — signed with Indiana
Jaylin Williams’ commitment to Ole Miss didn’t even last a month as committed on June 23 and de-committed on July 22. Williams was the first prospect to de-commit following Freeze’s resignation.

It didn’t take long for Williams to find a new home as he committed to Indiana on Aug. 1. Indiana is coached by Tom Allen, who was at one point a defensive coordinator on Freeze’s staff at Ole Miss. Williams is the No. 846-rated prospect in the class.

3-star defensive tackle Israel Antwine (Oklahoma City, Okla.) — signed with Colorado
Like Scott, Israel Antwine de-committed from Ole Miss on July 30, just days after Freeze left the program. He first committed to Ole Miss on May 24. He is listed as the No. 847-ranked prospect in the country.

Antwine first committed to Oklahoma State on Oct. 15, but he flipped his commitment to Colorado on Dec. 19 and signed with the Buffaloes the next day.
