Missouri remained in the conversation for an at-large bid to the NCAA tournament last week, knocking off Alabama and Kentucky by identical 69-60 scores. The defeat of Bama was the Tigers' first road win in five attempts in the SEC. They head to Oxford to face a struggling Ole Miss squad, which was walloped by Tennessee 94-61 on Saturday and has dropped three games in a row. The Rebels have been solid at home in SEC action, winning four of five.
The Tigers are ninth in the SEC in offensive efficiency, hurt by a abysmal turnover rate (22 percent of possessions) and mediocre 2-point shooting (48.6 pct.). On the season, they've scored 73.6 ppg, led by Kassius Robertson with 16 ppg and 41 percent 3-point accuracy. Jordan Barnett adds 14 ppg and has also hit 41 pct. of 3-pointers while Jordan Puryear is the top frontcourt threat with eight points and four boards per night. The Tigers have allowed 66 ppg on the season and rank sixth in defensive efficiency in the SEC, limiting teams to 29.7 percent on 3-pointers.
This could be the final chapter for Ole Miss coach Andy Kennedy, who has enjoyed a successful 12-year run at the school and is the program's career victories leader. The Rebels put up 77.3 ppg on the season but defense has been an issue, allowing 76.8 ppg and ranking 12th in the SEC in efficiency. Deandre Burnett puts up 14.8 ppg and Terence Davis adds 13.6 ppg for the Rebels.
