3-star OL Hamilton Hall commits to Ole Miss over Nebraska

3-star OL Hamilton Hall commits to Ole Miss over Nebraska
Jack Bicknell gets his man.

Just when you thought recruiting was starting to dwindle, a three-star offensive lineman being committed by two Power 5 programs NOT on a bowl ban tells them to hit the bricks and commits to the Rebs.

The aforementioned commit is three-star offensive tackle Hamilton Hall, who committed to Ole Miss following his official visit to Oxford over the weekend. The Atlanta, Georgia native was previously under the radar until December rolled around and he was offered by Nebraska and Louisville.

It’s been a hell of a ride, but I’m happy to say I finally found my home...12:00 PM - Jan 29, 2018 · Chamblee, GA

The No. 126 tackle in the country ultimately chose the Rebs over the Cornhuskers and notable offers from Cincinnati, Florida Atlantic, Indiana, Louisville, Memphis, Missouri, Mississippi State, and Toledo. Hall is a top 150 player in the Peach State and is someone who can certainly step in for Jack Bicknell at tackle or guard in the coming years.

Hall spoke with Rivals’ Chad Simmons about why he chose to commit now instead of waiting for National Signing Day and doing all the fanfare.

“I committed to Ole Miss today because I just don’t like to play around,” said Hall. “I don’t want to mess with schools and lead them on. When that fit is for you, in my opinion, it’s best to make that move, and that’s exactly what I did.”

The commitment comes barely 24 hours from his departure in Oxford. Makes me think it was an easy decision since he decided not to wait for next Wednesday.

“From the moment I stepped on campus, I felt at home. Coaches, players, community, all welcomed me with open arms.

”I told coach Luke and coach Bick (Jack Bicknell, offensive line) Sunday when I met with them before leaving and they were really excited. Coach Bick was especially excited. He’s really looking forward to working with me.”

How does he fit in?
The 6’5, 315-pounder is a damn surgeon with his hands and feet in the trenches. Hall is aggressive off the ball, shows impressive balance and fundamentals when engaging the defender. We always talk about “punch” here at the Cup when talking o-line recruiting and Hamilton fits the bill there. He has an incredibly strong jab and hook and will knock your daggum block off.

He’s also your prototypical trench mobster in the sense that he blocks with an attitude and has a switch that he can turn on when he wants to get violent. This was visible when he lined up on the other side of the ball on the defensive line. His versatility and experience will help him tremendously when he arrives in the 662 and begins the acclimation process.

Ole Miss needed someone to help build depth up front with Greg Little departing at left tackle and Javon Patterson and Jordan Sims leaving after 2018. Even if he takes a redshirt year, I see Hall picking up where they left off and being an anchor somewhere for Matt Corral and the Rebels for years to come.

Hall talked with Simmons about how he’s always wanted to be in the Southeastern Conference. Well, with several openings up front in 2019, the time is now.

“Playing football in the SEC was always my dream. And it’s finally fulfilled. Now it’s on to the next one. I plan to do things bigger than all, and pave my own path to success.”
