Kevin Sumlin was named as new head football coach at Arizona. He will replace Rich Rodriguez who was fired due to many ethical issues.
Most sensible Rebel fans can only hope that Sumlin keeps Mazzone on staff with him at Arizona. By doing this, the odds will be reduced that Luke hires Mazzone at Ole Miss.

They are probably better off than Ariz, State,

Kevin Sumlin is a decent coach. At TAMU for some reason I think he got caught up in the politics and some of the old school, big dollar donors decided it was time for a change, so they forced the issue. The Texas A&M fans are demanding championships and Sumlin was not delivering the results they wanted. Sumlin did have a respectable record of 51-26 overall at TAMU, but his SEC record was only 25-23.
Football fans should be looking for TAMU to rise with the hiring of Jimbo Fisher. Fisher is a quality coach who has a respectable overall record at Free Seafood University of 83-23 and a conference record of 48-17. Of his nine seasons at FSU, the 2017 season was his only losing season. Expect Fisher to make things more competitive in the SEC West while giving TAMU more notoriety. Of course this is not good new for Ole Miss, who will most likely remain at the bottom of the SEC West behind Alabama, Auburn, LSU, and TAMU.
The hiring of Jimbo Fisher at TAMU has correlations to the hiring of Saban at Alabama. A team that wants to win sets its sights on a top notch coach. They get the funding to hire the coach and do what it takes to make the hire. In addition, they have a fan base that WANTS TO WIN and be AT THE TOP of their conference. If only Ole Miss could adapt to this logic instead of being concerned about image, The Grove, and socializing.

^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^DING, DING, DING^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
Unfortunately the "We're lil Ole Miss" mafia is still running things in Oxford.....and as long as that is true they'll be happy with middle of the pack.....big fish/small pond feather merchants one and all...

Sumlin was a Big 12 ?Pac 12 type of coach. When he was hired A&M was in the Big 12 and moved to the SEC the summer before his first game. I don't blame Sumlin for that, he was put in a bad place to succeed from the start with the way he coaches. What I do blame Sumlin for is he got lazy in recruiting, was a ultimate failure in recruiting. Recruiting ratings I have always said mean nothing. Sumlin would end up with some decent classes, but that was stacking the classes with highly ranked WR's and some highly ranked QB's( that didnt work out). Void is what it takes to win in the SEC OL, Dl and LBs.
I think he is in a conference where he should have been all along. Hopefully it will re energize him in recruiting and he will put the bottle down for the sake of his wife and kids. The Arizona sun might do him some good in that regard.
As for Mazzone, that clown is already with him out there.

The further away Mazzone is from Ole Miss, the better it is for the Rebels. He was a deceptive betrayer who was a back stabber and saboteur to the school, the players, the fans, and his peers while serving on two different staffs at Ole Miss.
