BASKETBALL: Ole Miss vs. Florida - Analysis and Pick

After hitting a rough patch in December, the Florida Gators are clicking again and playing like a contender to win the SEC and make a deep run in March. The Gators have won six games in a row, sit atop the conference standings and walloped Mississippi State by 17 points most recently. The Ole Miss Rebels lost by 15 at Auburn last time out but are 2-0 in conference games on the home floor.

Florida is putting up 82.3 ppg and has the nation's 19th most efficient offense. The Gators don't commit turnovers (4th nationally in TO rate) and have a bevy of shooters - 45.7 percent on 3s in SEC games. The Gators top three scorers all hit better than 40 percent beyond-the-arc, led by Jalen Hudson with 16.6 ppg. Egor Koulechov adds 15.5 ppg and Chris Chiozza chips in 12.9 ppg. Florida isn't great on the defensive end - 72.2 ppg and 46th in efficiency - but has played strong there in stretches, forcing turnovers on 20 percent of SEC opponents' possessions.

Defense has never been the strong suit in Oxford during coach Andy Kennedy and these Rebels are no exception. They rank 156th nationally in efficiency, allowing 75.1 ppg. They are fourth in efficiency in SEC play, however. Deandre Burnett scores 14.4 ppg to lead an Ole Miss offense that's top 70 in efficiency and scores 78.6 ppg. Terence Davis adds 13.5 ppg and Breein Tyree is dangerous, adding 10.9 ppg on 40 pct. 3-point shooting.

Recent Betting Trends:

  • Gators are 5-1 ATS in their last 6 road games.

  • Rebels are 4-10 ATS in their last 14 games overall.

  • Under is 9-3 in Gators last 12 Saturday games.

  • Over is 8-3-1 in Rebels last 12 Saturday games.

Pick: Florida Gators -4

This Gators team is RED HOT winning 6 games straight up and 3 games ATS - more of the sam on the road Sunday. Add in that this Ole Miss team is just 1-2 straight up and ATS in the last 3 games as Rebels defense has been big problem this year. Final Score Prediction, Florida Gators win and cover ATS 81-73.
