There is no doubt that these idiots will create some controversy for themselves. It will just be a matter of time before the Confederate statutes are removed. Frankly, I would not be surprised if they tried to move the Confederate Cemetery. Instead of progressing in providing quality education and winning athletics, Ole Miss is too busy trying to be politically correct. If I lived in MS, I would get my child to consider other out of state options.

Sorry, Bowhunter but the Neo-Nazi/Klan rally deviated from their rally plans on Friday night. They were spoiling for a fight and they got it. It has absolutely nothing to do with the two other groups that you mentioned. I've been part of a crowd that hooted down the Klan at Fulton Chapel a few years ago. To my mind, the people who formed on the other side of the line at Charlottesville were no different than the Ole Miss fans who opposed the Klan on that day!

Let me first request that you to spend half an hour reading about what actually occurred and get your facts straight before replying in the future. So many errors in your "assessment" of what actually happened.
Also I don't know any Ole Miss fan that would support any hate group much less stand in line with them. We are better than that.

Here's the response from Vitter. Nice toe tapping around his initial statement:
"Chris,
Thank you for your response to my letter regarding the events in Charlottesville. As my letter stated: "There is no place for violence and hate - not in our communities, on our campuses, or in our country." This statement applies to anyone and any group who would use violence or hate to advance their political views. Our university will continue to strive to provide a welcoming environment that fosters learning, innovation, and a strong sense of community. While we cannot shy away from difficult conversations, we will always be stronger together.

Vitter is a poor excuse for a Chancellor. With the mention of the Charlottesville incident, he is opening another can of worms for causing conflict at Ole Miss. Once again Ole Miss will probably give itself another black eye.
I have 2 thoughts:
1. I'm waiting for the onslaught on the statue in the Circle to begin. We'll probably move the statue of Meredith into it's place. Then they can move the pre-game pep rally out of the grove and rally roun' his statue and sing kumbya...that should be Africanized enough to appease all but the northern press....
2. It gives great confidence to have this 'chancellor' leading (or retreating) the NCAA defense (capitulation)..... </sarcasm off>I could totally see the Administration starting up some crap regarding the statue on the Circle during football season. For some reason, they seem to think that's the best time to piss off the fanbase.
Yep...they way they can send out the Lyceum Flying Monkeys to try to convince people that any criticism hurts recruiting and keeps the team and fanbase from focusing on the next 'opponent'....... Then there is the excitement of the current season so starting crap during the season provides a cover so their act won't be in total view. Sort of akin to the document dump the politicians do on Fridays to hide crap....

My reply to Chancellor Vitter:
"Thank you Chancellor for your response. However it doesn’t address the reason for my initial email. Here is the quote from your article I took issue with:"We are all struggling with the horrific events that unfolded when white supremacist groups incited violence, hatred, and even death in a college town with a vibrant and diverse community similar to our own.”As we all know, at least those of us who took the time to learn about what actually occurred, there were 3 hate groups inciting violence. Two of those were not white supremacist groups. My point then and continues to be is that ALL hate groups need to be addressed for what they are. Singling out a group equally responsible for the debacle that unfolded is exactly what our National Media does and only serves to further divide us. When only addressing one of the three guilty factions you give a free pass to the other two as if their actions are condoned and acceptable in which they are not nor should they ever be. If you want to truly represent the University of Mississippi then you need to make sure in future public statements where you take the opportunity to address a situation that is totally unrelated to our Great University then you will address all of the issues vs cherry picking like the National Media does. Ole Miss deserves better as does her distinguished Alumni."
