Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

Did his brother also resign from the coaching staff?  Did we have to buy out his contract or honor it until its expiration?

Maybe he is negotiating a contract with Mich.

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

It would seem like his brother would have to be let go in some form or fashion for Ole Miss to have to buy out his contract.   They are probably trying to negotiate something with Michigan for Shawn.  As bad as Ole Miss legal is, they probably pay everyone a buyout whether they quit or no matter how they leave.

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

Aside from the obvious lack of respect I do wonder why, all of a sudden, SP has become such a malcontent....  Seems mighty curious to me.

Those positing that he's scared of competing with Ta Amu are FOS..... He already won that competition....

I'm guessing it's more of a reflection of lack of respect for the current staff......but that's just me thinking again.....

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

I don't think he won the competition with Ta'amu. He was handed it based on his recruiting ranking. Comparing games played on the field, Ta'amu is a better QB than Shae Patterson. He may have the raw talent but he still plays like a HS quarterback.

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

There is no comparison between the two.  It isn't fair to Jordan.  Shea is a very rare talent and that is easily apparent if you remove the sting of him no longer being here from the comparison.  He was the #1 QB coming out of HS and Jordan was a walk on at a JUCO.  Hello!
Shea's Dad was not happy when Freeze fired Werner who is responsible for Shea coming to Ole Miss long before big brother signed on with the staff.  That was strike 1.  Strike 2 was hiring Longo with his Mickey Mouse offense.  Strike 3 was retaining Luke which in turn kept Longo for at least another season.  Maybe you guys have forgotten how badly we were beaten against Bama and Auburn?  Shea was literally running for his life in each game because of our shitty offensive line play.  It has been rumored the Bama game was actually when he injured his knee and he finished the tear against LSU.
Anyways no doubt Shea's Dad has been very vocal and hell to deal with but you know what?  We signed up for that when we recruited him and truth be told his Dad is spot on.  Unlike us Shea doesn't have 10 years of eligibility while we figure out Luke was a major f'ing mistake.  He has 2 seasons max before he heads to the NFL.  With all of that in mind I can certainly see why his transfer has been close to a year in the making.
This is also precisely why I found it beyond absurd that the GOB's floated out the Shea is pushing for Luke BS.  We have to keep Luke to keep Shea!  Whatever.  We were all sold a false bill of goods once again....

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

Shea wanting Luke was GOB propaganda.  Fans can blame Freeze for this fiasco.  Freeze did not manage the team, fired Werner, and hired Lingo.  HF's antics got him fired and positioned Luke for the HC job.  If both Freeze and Werner were still at Ole Miss, Shea most likely would not be transferring.   Shea is just another person that Freeze deceived.

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

It was laughable when the GOB was pushing the "Shea wants Luke" narrative, as that was one of the most obvious lies out there. Anyone with any lick of sense knows that Luke is a disaster of a hire. Add to that is the fact that Bjork gave him over 3 million/year, and the fanbase is like a balloon that just had all of the air let out of it. It's just hard to have any type of excitement for this program and I'm expecting the worse next season.

Re: Ole Miss Trio Visits Michigan

In addition to the $3M, he gets something like a $2M buyout.  Once again Ole Miss provides a training ground for someone to learn to become a HC in addition to allowing them to line their pockets and become millionaires.
