Michigan is in serious consideration for several Ole Miss players looking to transfer due to the sanctions given recently by the NCAA. The process is definitely heating up with the activity and talk that several, including Shea Patterson, are visiting Michigan this weekend.
There were also sightings of Jim Harbaugh and a Michigan plane in Oxford on Tuesday. It was reported that he was out to eat with safety Deontay Anderson. The story is catching notice of many who cover college football.
Some big recruiting news: #Michigan is expecting to host talented #OleMiss QB Shea Patterson & OM safety Deontay Anderson on official visits this weekend, source tells me. And there might be more Rebels visiting Ann Arbor as well.

While no decision by a player has been officially announced, it was reported that seven Ole Miss players are interested in transferring to Michigan. This was first reported by Rival’s Andrew Vailliencourt.
Let's go through the entire group and get to know the players. The first player is who many feel will decide on Michigan very soon, which means several more may follow him.
1. Shea Patterson
Year: Sophomore
Position: Quarterback
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
Quick Breakdown: He was the No. 1 ranked QB in the 2016 class and No. 4 overall player (No. 1 in FL), according to 247Sports.
Shea played three games at Ole Miss as a true freshman in 2016 before enduring a season-ending knee injury in late October against LSU. In 10 games played at Ole Miss, he's thrown for 3,139 total yards for 23 touchdowns.
He’s one that first showed interest in Michigan, has family in southwest Ohio and has always dreamed of playing in The Big House. It has been a developing story since the Ohio State game, and started to make traction over the last few days. Sam Webb also put in his prediction on Tuesday, and our own Trevor Woods had a huge update in the recruitment of Patterson.

2. Van Jefferson
Year: Redshirt Sophomore
Position: Wide Receiver
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
Quick breakdown: Has played in 22 games at Ole Miss and has 91 catches for 999 yards, 11.0 average, and five touchdowns.
3. Deontay Anderson
Year: Sophomore
Position: Safety
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
Quick breakdown: Played in 11 games at Ole Miss and has 32 total tackles (18 solo/14 assist)
4. Greg Little
Year: Sophomore
Position: Offensive Tackle
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
He has been fairly silent on his search so far.
5. Breon Dixon
Year: Freshman
Position: Linebacker
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
Quick breakdown: Played three games in 2017 and had five tackles (two solo/three assist)
6. Bryce Matthews
Year: Freshman
Position: Offensive Tackle
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
7. Jacob Mathis
Year: Freshman
Position: Tight End
Ole Miss profile, 247Sports profile
Michigan may not land all seven, but a domino effect may occur if Patterson does indeed transfer to Michigan. We will stay close on this story, so stayed tuned.

If this many players transfer to Michigan, it is excusable on the part of Bjork and Luke. Harbaugh never should have been allowed direct contact in Oxford with these players. Supposedly these players wanted Luke to stay and they were ready to play for him. Evidently that is just another blow of smoke from the Ole Miss media machine.

This is what you get when you make a hire like Luke as your HC and then lie about it. Harbaugh won’t visit on campus, and there is no way to keep him out of Oxford.

Bryce Matthews tweeted he wasn't going anywhere. Rashan Gary's mother tweeted Greg Little wasn't interested in transferring. I don't know about the others on the list. Only two that I see would be considered a loss imo.

I'm glad you posted that. I was about to post the same thing. Guys that I think we'll lose are Shea, Van Jefferson, and D Anderson.

Bryce Matthews parents posted that he came to Ole Miss because of Coach Luke.

what is sad is that there are a lot of ole miss people silently glad kids are looking to transfer so they can continue to attack luke. come on guys. as i said before, attacking a coach is attacking the program. Luke was not my list but now we have hindsight, we see that there was no one else coming. Looking at the long list of programs needing a coach and seeing who has been hired to fill those positions, it is underwhelming and to think we would have hired anyone else is a fairytale.
If we would have hired someone else, we would have been hiring a completely new staff as well more than likely. also, if we would have hired someone else, that coach may not even be on staff until after january and then they would have been filling their staff after that. More than likely it would have been an assistant coach so who is going to follow an assistant coach to school in the middle of a 2 yr bowl ban? the pool is small and shallow folks.
if we don't get the 2nd year appealed, luke will be our coach for at least until next year. I would much rather move forward as is and hope he just keeps the ship together and is able to refill the roster with people that the next coach can utilize.
But again, please tell me guys, who do you think would have taken the job? What names that have signed with the likes of TAM/Ark/et that we would be excited about and who you realistically think would have taken the job. no one. So this GOB hire stuff, true or not, would not matter one damned bit in our current circumstance.

Bjork was boasting that he was getting texts and calls from interested coaches right up to the moment he walked in to announce the in house hire....... So, yeah, we had other options...... But we didn't WANT other options. The fix was in......
We are SOOOOOOOO "Little Ole Miss"......

yeah, well we have a lot of big time recruits come on campus as well and end up signing elsewhere.
we have so much potential, we have proven we can challenge for championships. the issue at this point is we are 2 seasons removed from the sugar bowl. these 2 years had a growing dark cloud that unleashed it's thunder. the names you all heard, where are they now? they signed a new contract or they are at a new school that would have beat us out because of our current situation. Tennessee hired an assitant coach. State hired an assistant coach. Ark hired a coach that would have been bitched about here.
Point is, who the hell would we have hired that would not have had half the fan base whine about? Hell, if we did not hire luke we more than likely would have been still searching.
Luke is our coach for at least this year. If he does what he did this year in which the team works hard and does not quit, that is all I am looking for. After this year most of our deepest cuts from the ncaa will be over. By that time it will still be way to early for all these programs that just hired coaches this year to be in the market again so we will be in a much better footing. Hiring a new staff puts the program back a few steps as the new staff comes in, mends fences and then starts the rebuilding. With Luke, he weathered the storms this year and is already in gear rolling forward. Like it or not, accept it or not, believe it or not, this was the best decision for the program for the next 12-24 months. If we are 5-6 wins next year, if there are interested coaches at that point then we will hire a new coach.
If luke wins 6-7 games next year he will be given 24 months maybe.
either way, this was not a GOB hire, this was a hire that made sense in our current situation. Luke is going to protect this school and will be given the chance to succeed. that is all I ask

There, in a nutshell, is the future....and the past.
