Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

I definitely understand that this isn't what he signed up for.  Heck, it's not what I signed up for either.  But I understand the desire to transfer.   However, if he's leaving for playing time, I'm not sure going to a bigger school like Michigan would be the way to accomplish that.  Also, if it's because a coach or the fans rubbed them the wrong way, Michigan is also probably not the best choice.  Their fans can be brutal, and their coach rubs everyone the wrong way.
I hope he stays, I still think he has generational-type of talent, and with the right coaching he would be a superstar.  The question is, will he get that at Ole Miss and I have to admit that I'm just not too sure right now.

I dont mind him going but he should stay by the coach that he wanted so badly to he hired.

Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

How is going to be the QB coach to development Shea's talent?  When he signed up he had Werner to develop him.  Werner is a good QB coach and has developed several quality players.  Now Shea is stuck with Lingo as his QB coach, who runs a non-standard offense that is rarely used in the Pros.

Considering the Kool-Aid pumping source, it is doubtful that Shea said he would transfer if Luke was not kept as HC.  This was probably mostly propaganda created by the GOB media outlets.  Now if it were true and Luke is now HC, why is Shea considering transferring?

Fans better hope that Pellerin is a good QB and that Ta'amu stays at Ole Miss.  Without the skills of a good QB, a team does have a field general to successfully lead them.

Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

Patterson is only concerned about himself and his future. Considering what has happened and how the future looks  for OM football  many people don’t blame him at all. In the end he is really just another out of state recruit Freeze brought in like Tunsil who has zero loyalty to OM.

Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

Guys Shea Patterson is a once in a lifetime type talent.  If he chooses to go to Michigan he will start from day one.  They don’t have a qb on the roster that can hold his jockstrap.  They lost several games this season due to qb injuries and just pure terrible qb play.  They are loaded with talent everywhere else.  Harbough is much like Saban.  He understands what it takes to win big and that’s defense and a game manager at QB.  Just like he was when he played at Michigan and in the NFL.  Patterson will do incredibly well there and will welcome the scrutiny.  Anyone who thinks he’s fearful of a QB competition at Ole Miss needs to seriously have their heads checked.  Patterson was the #1 QB coming out of high school and the only reason he signed with Ole Miss was Dan Werner.   We hired his older brother later on as the cherry on top to secure his signature but Dan Werner hand delivered him to us.  That is why Shawn got so angry when Freeze fired Werner.  It’s been all downhill since.
I wish him well where ever he goes.
Don’t count out LSU just yet.  Those release terms can be easily contested in an appeal and WAOM has already established case precedence where it can be overturned.
I still think he winds up in A2.  Harbough’s NFL connections are more important than his college coaching and that is where Shea is going to end up as the likely #1 pick in the draft whenever he decides to go.

Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

Now if you were Shea, who would you rather have as a QB coach if your goal was to become an NFL player, Lingo or Harbough?  Who would you rather have as a HC, Luke or Harbough?  Beside Lingo's offense is Mickey Mouse and not one that effective prepares a QB for the NFL.

On another note, could Freeze firing Werner have been a ploy to protect his job HC?  If Werner were on staff when Freeze resigned, he would have been much more qualified to be the HC.  Werner would have been a good leader, manager, and developer of players.  After losing his job at Ole Miss, Werner was hired as an Offensive Assistant by Nick Saban.  That should tell you something about the qualifications of Werner as a coach.

Ann Arbor and the Big House is also quite a different venue......  The boy wouldn't have requested a release if he wasn't planning on leaving......I'd say he'll be playing in front of >100,000 maze and blue fans soon....probably next season as I'll bet the NCAA will do that just because they can....

Re: Patterson Requests and Receives Permission to Talk to Other Schools

Shea's transfer is in the Michigan newspapers.  There is almost no doubt that he will be going to Michigan and probably will not have to sit out a year.

Overall, Ole Miss fans can thank Freeze and the inept Ole Miss leadership for this fiasco.  Freeze failed to manage the team and the boosters.  Instead of tending to business, he let his ego inflate and lost control of his duties.  Freeze left the program in worst shape than Mutt.

The Ole Miss leadership gave information to the NCAA rather than fight them.  The administration also ignored advice by the retained counsel to fight the NCAA allegations.  Ole Miss Compliance and Ole Miss Legal simply gave the NCAA more than what they wanted.

THAT is our problem....we have an administration of bureaucrats that couldn't manage a Monopoly Game much less a university....they would starve to death in the outside world where they were actually held accountable for the results they turn in....
