what ever guys, if tennessee can't hire a coach. if ark is still looking for a coach, if TAM hasnt named a coach yet, who the living hell is going to be hired as HC that people are not going to fuss about after all the other schools not under NCAA clouds with a mallet hoovering over our heads?  State hired an OC. They have proven to be a national title contender.

the "GOB" network my have their hands all up in this, but the fact the "GOB" network has power is because the rest of the "little people' stay home and pout and boycott...

Tennessee has been a dumpster fire of issues for several years now with Title 9 issues and sexual assault coverups.  Lots of issues the next HC is going to have to immediately get control of along with a fanbase that expects to compete at the same level they experienced in 1998 and haven't scared since.  Very similar to the situation Nebraska is in.  Scarily similar.
Arkansas is waiting on Gus and he still has a game left to play.  Totally makes sense.  Unlike Ole Miss they arent in any rush to get the right guy to lead their program.
A&M is waiting on Jimbo who still has a game left to play.  Totally makes sense.
Who could we have hired that would have made sense?  Taggart, Strong, Doerren, Morris, Pruitt, Wilson to name a few.  All would have issues that would need to be addressed but none have the smears of the GOB (save for possibly Morris) that Luke has.  Quite simple actually.  But see the GOB's want you to believe that WAOM narrative that we can't hire anyone better than Matt Luke because that secures Matt Luke for them for now and the foreseeable future.  The wave of excuses for mediocrity are in place and will be strategically dropped when needed as cover for piss poor performances that are coming you can bet on that.
The GOB's are why the rest of us feel completely violated, lied to, deceived, etc.  Because it is true.  Fwiw the "little people" greatly outnumber and outfinance the GOB's.  We may not have the political leverage and that is obvious but we can speak with our wallets.
I trust that we will and it's going to take an enormous effort to drain this swamp.
I do like how you "whatever guys" the thread.  That's a well learned GOB defense tactic.  They have trained you well.
It isn't popular and it isn't fun but it absolutely has to be done for the sake of our football program and furthermore our entire athletics program.
Most of us don't subscribe to the WAOM theory which is the fly in their ointment.  The reason is quite simple.  It's bullshit.

Re: I may be changing my opinion on Luke

That response above isn't an attack on your either Mob.  Please don't take it that way.  All of us are nervous about what tomorrow holds but the real issue here for most if not all of us is what we have done to date to ourselves.

Re: I may be changing my opinion on Luke

so much frustration and so much uncertainty and so much outrage for things that just don't ever seem to be handled correctly. I get it.  but ole miss is not any different than any other school with the exception of say bama.

if we get a wrist slap tomorrow, people are going to attack luke and our administration for pulling the trigger to soon.  If we we get slammed, people are just going to hate life in general.  time is only going to heal this division, and winning games

Re: I may be changing my opinion on Luke

I am pissed that we didn't even try to get a splash hire. Didn't have to be a HC, I would have LOVED Bret Venables, but voluntarily hiring a bad line coach as the HC is ridiculous. Luke lost at least 3 games with large leads because he didn't know what he was doing and we beat State because Fitzgerald got hurt. Sorry, but that's the truth. State's hire of Moorhead makes ours look like the smalltime hire that it is and we should have been easily able to match their desirabiity. Makes no sense to hire prior to getting the NCAA ruling. I'm so damn tired of Fill In the Blank "loves Ole Miss" so please overlook his lack of credentials.

Further, we have overpaid him about 1.5-2 million a year and the huge pool for his current assistants isn't necessary. We also were not bright enough to put a small buyout clause in the contract in case he proved himself a disaster. We have to pay .65 of the remainder of his contract. If he "loved" Ole Miss so freaking much, how come it didn't extend to his contract?? I fully expect to see Roper or Mazzone or some of the other Ole Miss retreads being hired again.

State made a good hire, A&M is going to get Jimbo Fisher, TN is going to wind up with Leach, Ark. is trying to hire away Malzahn and we wind up with Luke. That on it's face just shows how little effort was made in the 5 months Bjork had to get ready for this pivotal critical hire

IMO that hire hurts us far worse than the NCAA sanctions currently being reported......  We won with sanctions in place when Tubby came.....with ML we will like Custer's troops at the Little Big Horn during games......surrounded, no place to go, and with a leader who led us to disaster....
