During the week, go to the football practices and see who is there, besides coaches, players, and media, especially the closed practices. Go to the Athletic Office during the week to see what non-employees are hanging out. Go to the golf course and see who is playing golf with Luke or even Cluck. Go to the team travel meeting location on travel days and see who is with the team besides coaches, coaches' family members, players, players' family members, and media. See who does not fit the mentioned criteria and gets on the bus or plane to travel with the team. These people would rather have access than success. They want to be viewed as important people close to the program.

"Naive: having or showing a lack of experience, judgment, or information." How does a naive person become un-naive? They obtain information and experience. I'm not attacking you GOB conspirators, I'm just trying to find out who these people are. All I get in reply are rose colored glasses, pitchers of Kool-aid, and instruction of where to go to view these shadowy people. Not living in Oxford makes it difficult to attend football practices, play golf on the University course, etc.
You know, Kool-aid comes in different flavors, and it seems all us folks that question the GOB line of thinking are just being offered one of those different flavors. The negativity on this board astounds me; it almost seems as if I'm reading a MSU board. When something happens that one doesn't like or agree with, its all attack mode with very little fact to back it up. For example, we lose a home basketball game and all of a sudden the Pavilion money was money down a rat hole that could have been spent (by the GOBs, by the way) on football. As a result of Vitter watching squirrels, our football team is doomed to 2-8 or 4-6 seasons for the rest of eternity. This is a level of pessimism that is unbelievable for a fan base, and it's all due to WAOM, according to these pessimists.
I guess all I'm asking for are some facts from people who know more about Ole Miss sports than I do. It's true that Dave was this sort of curmudgeon too, but he's just an old fart .
Don't get me wrong, I like the humor. It's just that the GOB crap is fast getting to be a broken record & it's wearing me (and probably other members on this board) down.

Truth hurts. It takes some of us longer to warm up to it than others. Like many things in life just because someone doesn’t hand you the black book of intel doesn’t mean the issue doesn’t exist.
I get what your saying. For me I’ve seen old school politics, GOB’s affect most everything in my life. Not affect me but affect the things around me. How things are done. Other big time schools have Boards of Regents and such that counter this culture because it exists everywhere. It’s not mutually exclusive to Ole Miss but it’s always front center at Ole Miss because it is the largest determining factor in how we approach decision making. There’s 50 years of evidence to support that idea which is way longer than I have been on this earth.
I understand the negativity. It drains me too but instead of being numb to it I’m done with being ok with it. I may lose out in the long run but I won’t allow this type of behavior to overrun my University with apathy. In the interim there are going to be plenty of things said, written, etc that aren’t popular or easy to stomach.
If you want pumped full of sunshine, rainbows and unicorns join the Spirit Spin machine. They do a wonderful job of it.

Just because I disagree with the folks pushing the GOB story line doesn't mean I'm a sunshine pumper or that I drink the kool-aid. I just don't think bitching about them constantly automatically means they exist. Everyone who asks for names gets evasions, beating around the bush and name-calling. If y'all can't or won't name names, that's fine. But I'm not going to stop supporting the Rebs on the basis of the kool-aid man and being called naive.

My first suggestion would be to do a strong examination of who you are supporting and more importantly what they are supporting or driving. You might be surprised to find out what lies at the end of your financial and emotional support. There is abaolutley zero reason or furthermore need to spell it out.
If you want to know just do some digging. They aren’t hard to spot and neither are their motives.

One day when the team is practicing, take an extended break from your job and walk over to the Manning Center during a practice session. If you give the secret handshake, you can probably get into the Manning Center. Once in the building you should see some GOBs feeling important and trying to stay next to the program.
