MSE doesn't have impending NCAA sanctions looming. Like it or not, that is having an effect on the search. The NCAA sanctions are just a big excuse for Ole Miss. Yes, the sanctions may be a hindrance, but a good coach who wants to make more money, build a team, and not have lots of pressure would take the job. Now when Luke is hired and Ole Miss has consistent 6-6 seasons, every one will blame it on NCAA sanctions. The reason Moo U might get a better coach is because they want to win and they want a home run hire. If Bjork does not make a good hire for HC, get ready for another decade plus of mediocrity. Meanwhile, other SEC schools make good hires and surpass Ole Miss in football.
How is it just an excuse? At other schools, a new coach will know what he stepping into. At ole miss, they don't know if the school is going to have another year bowl ban, if there's going to be more scholarship productions, Etc. But if you think it's "just and excuse" that's fine, it's your opinion and I respect your right to it, but I completely disagree -- it isn't an excuse, it's a reality Bjork is dealing with.
Scholarship production?? We better get to producing because we be way behind!

If Bjork was going to hire Luke he wouldn't have a need to meet with the team. He could just announce it and be done. Seems to me he is likely meeting with them about not hiring Luke in light of their support for him. Is that logical thinking?

Luke ??? According to a lot of posters, (not here) he has done a masterful job.

I actually think Luke did a good job keeping the team from folding (like they did under Freeze last year) -- but that's it...the actual coaching we saw was hardly "masterful" especially considering we lost one game 66-3, lost to a 5-7 Cal team and a terrible Arkansas team (at home!) -- and what evidence is there Luke is ready to be the face of a program? To hire an SEC caliber staff? None that I can see --- I don't have a personal dislike toward Luke, but I do not believe he's ready to lead an SEC program.

I posted this yesterday on a different thread, pass it along to you Gator friends..
Mullen’s Bulldogs just completed an 8-4 regular season (including a loss at home to their bitter rival, a 28 point loss at Georgia and a 39 point loss at Auburn) in which he made $4.5 million and is likely in line for an extension. Think about that. Why leave, ever?In the SEC MSU beat a terrible KY team, A&M who is firing their coach, a miracle comeback to beat Ark who is firing their coach and L$U who was terrible and a week later lost at home to TROY.They beat Charleston Southern, UMASS and the worst BYU team in 25 years in non conference.Mullen has done a decent job at MSU, but go look at their schedule over his tenure. Every year they start out 4-0 with the worst non conference schedule in the country.A miracle worker he is not.Last 3 years in the SEC, he is 11-13 (33-39 career in SEC). They are paying 4.5 MILLION bucks for that.if a 33-39 SEC record gets you 6 million a year, I need to get back in college coaching Hell , he is already making him 4.5 million a year and Miss state is going to throw more than that at him. INSANE for a coach with a career 69-46 record in 9 years, if you take away the TEN 1-AA gimmie wins during that time, you have barely a .500 coach at 59-46 ( he also has a combined 5 wins vs bottom feeders UAB and South Alabama during that time).

He’ll be fired in 3 years bc FL fans won’t settle for anything less than SECE champ every year.

All those sports commentators like the dip from Alabama have been lauding Luke all season. They are all in hopes that we will get Luke full time and be mired in mediocrity.
