Not that I dwell on State but thinking on the game.....
I kept wondering why State didn't run the ball down our throats last night and went to throwing....then it dawned on me that without Nicky being in there we had one less 'runner' to account for....
That backup QB is not the prototypical Mullet QB..... Some how Mullet has always managed to find a bull of a QB to run his offense.....One that could run over people. That trait being far more obvious than a throwing QB....
If Mullet stays at State that brings up an interesting situation.
I recall the first time I saw Nicky play in a mop up roll....he ran and ran and ran some more. I thought then..."well there is the future of the State offense.....they'll do the Tebow routine with that kid.".....
Last night we first saw this backup....and he primarily threw the ball.....He's not the bull type and can't run over people so they used his arm instead......the future of the State offense after next year? Likely IMO (if Mullet stays).
But it will be interesting to see how his offense works when he can't run a QB over people for 3-4 yards a pop at will.

That kid is young and they will get his "juices" flowing this offseason and he will morph into a dak clone. He's faster and more nimble that mouth breather that's for sure. Seems to have a big arm and if Mullen stays he will teach him how to be a qb like he did with all of the others. He has much more speed than his other db's I think. Give Mullen credit he's knows how to make chicken salad out of chicken shit annually.
I think the passes downfield were a result of us playing everyone within 5 yards of the line of scrimmage essentially daring them to throw it. Smart move since they had no wr to speak of that could run past us and we just had to tackle their 280 pound receiver.
