Scott Frost

Have to admit I missed that one.  My sources were way off in his desire to coach at Nebraska and that appears to be where he is headed.  They may be the only place that can tolerate his attitude.
Brother in law is a big Hog fan and he is confident they are going to bring Gus home.
Jimbo at Auburn could make things interesting but I'm not discounting Petrino since he has been there before and fits their dirty program to a T.
The coaching carousel speed is picking up.  One day closer for our nightmare to end.
I do hope Luke gets a HC gig somewhere.  I've heard he's on the top of the list at USA and was told yesterday that if Norvell leaves Memphis Luke would be their first target.  How ironic would it be if we basically swap with Memphis for HC's?  That may not be likely to happen but Arkansas doesn't appear to be available for him and Jimbo may end up at A&M so his top 2 options would not be open.  I don't see him going back out West.  Speaking from personal experience once you get back home after being away for a number of years it's unlikely you will leave again.  Obviously money and opportunity talks but family is a huge overriding factor.

Re: Scott Frost

It'll be interesting if Malzahn does wind up at Arkansas -- from what I'd heard he wasn't popular among Razorback faithful after the Nutt/Mustain debacle -- which was mainly on Nutt but opinion was Malzahn wasn't exactly an innocent victim -- of course that was 10 years ago so any bad feelings may have well have subsided by then.

To me going from Auburn to Arkansas is a step down -- Auburn is just a plain better job, and Malzahn would have folks saying he left AU because he didn't want to compete in state with Saban. But I have heard people report Malzahn is getting tired of not getting a long term contract from AU....it'll be interesting to see how it plays out.

Reports are also Sumlin is gone from A&M regardless of the outcome of their game against LSU and they'll be pursuing Jimbo Fisher -- which is ironic because 2 years ago before the A&M - LSU game LSU was trying to push Les Miles out -- so they could try to hire Jimbo Fisher.'

Chip Kelly is supposedly deciding between UCLA and Florida....who knows what's really going on with UT and Gruden?

Nebraska would do good if they get Frost -- I never understood them hiring Mike Riley.

I seem to recall there was a 'faction' similar to our 'Mazzone mafia' that was pushing for Gus to take over and from the foggy memory that was the source of the friction between Nutz and Gussy..... But I could be mis-remembering...AGAIN.

Re: Scott Frost

What I recall is that Gus was hired in like Freeze to get Mustain and the other 4 kids to Upig.  Part of the agreement was that Nutt was going to relinquish play calling duties to Malzahn and that never happened.  They struggled.  Mustain's momma called Nutt out about it and went to Broyles about it.  Nutt painted them all as meddlers and evil.  Haven't we seen this before?
Anyways that is what I recall and as others have stated it's been a long time but I have yet to speak to anyone who is pig fan that has spoken a single bad word about gus.  He's one of theirs and they would welcome him back home.  Is that taking a step backward from Auburn?  Possibly.   But the allure of being able to rebuild a program and having all of the support in the world from the fanbase but most importantly not being little brother to bama has to be very strong.  I think Auburn wins the Iron Bowl and Gus tells them to f off and heads to Fayetteville.

The scenario described is very accurate.  Mutt fractured the whole group of the Springdale 5.  He also tried to throw Gus under the bus.  Mutt made promises to this group but reneged after they were signed and on campus.  Mutt and Gus did not see eye to eye and Mutt was intimidate by Gus.  Mustain's Mother along with other players' parents met with Broyles, but Mutt tried to make them seem like meddlers.  Mutt ruined Mustain, just like he ruined most every QB that set foot on the Arky campus when he was head coach.
