That Ought to be Enough

Luke should be done now.  Arkansas and A&M would get most fired.  Maybe we need a 4th and 1 at Starkville to seal the deal.

We probably won't get that close with this outfit.

Re: That Ought to be Enough

Well, it could be enough for Luke to lose his crown, but then there could be excuses like, he did not have the talent, there were lots of injuries, there was no depth, etc.  The GOB has ordained Luke and given him the throne.  All fans should know that Ole Miss is a monarchy and Luke is the chosen one!!!  🙃

I never saw any evidence Luke had a real shot -- just a lot of grumbling (over and over again I might add) about the "GOB's" supporting Luke.

Ole Miss may be stuck with Luke.  Who else wants the job?

Re: That Ought to be Enough

By some accounts Charlie Strong wants it.  Honestly, I'd prefer to keep Luke over Strong.

If we beat state (we won't), Like will be our HC.  I'm glad we lost last night and I hope we lose the egg bowl.  Short term pain for long term gain.

Strong is simply looking for a big paycheck and a step back into a Power 5 Conference.  He knows that he could get a big payday without lots of pressure to win, since most Ole Miss fans are okay with mediocrity, and occasional big win, and making the scene in The Grove.  In the past Strong had many negative things to say about Ole Miss, mostly racial related.  It is amazing how a big paycheck can change someone's mind.  Charlie Strong failed miserably at Texas, so why would he be able to succeed at Ole Miss?

Re: That Ought to be Enough

Catfish, who else are we gonna get? I mean seriously. I’d love to have Strong. At least we know something about Strong. These other candidates that we will probably end up with haven’t even coached on the big stage. Remember that the guys doing the hiring are the same ones who assembled the current staff of a head coach with no head coaching experience, a defensive coordinator with no defensive coordinating experience, and an offensive coordinator with no offensive coordinating experience. So HELL YES I’d take Strong if we could be so lucky!

The appeasnicks are licking their chops at the thought of CS taking the job.....they think they can prove to him that we've repented of our evil ways and that he'll, given his past statements, now pronounce us no longer guilty and that we've cleansed ourselves of our evil racist past...... He won't....but it will be the PC hire they're longing for.....as the ultimate appeasement.....

Re: That Ought to be Enough

The hire will be both a desperation and PC hire.   Strong will milk Ole Miss for every dollar he can get because he knows that at one time Ole Miss paid HC's well.  Currently he is paid $1,000,000 per year with a $815,000 bonus and a $192,308 buyout.  Now with such a low buyout, do you think he planned on staying at his current employer?

Most likely Strong's results will be mediocre and accepted by most of the Ole Miss faithful.  Strong is quick to play the race card and if he were fired from Ole Miss, this would turn into another Ole Miss controversy involving race.  He failed miserably at Texas and only has proven HC success when playing in lesser conferences like The Big East and American Athletic Conference.  The SEC is a much bigger league with almost every week playing a strong opponent.
