It looks like Florida has received the go-ahead from the SEC to pursue Chip Kelly.
It was announced on Monday that Kelly was one candidate the Gators were looking at for the open head coach position. News then came out Tuesday that one of the remaining potential hurdles to Florida was clearance from the SEC.
Kelly made a name for himself while coaching the Oregon Ducks but left the school during an NCAA investigation. The investigation did determine that Kelly had violated NCAA rules and imposed an 18-month ban from college football on the coach.
The time for the suspension was passed sometime ago, but reports were indicating that the SEC would need to approve Kelly’s entrance into the conference.
It now appears that Florida has the go-ahead from the SEC as of Tuesday. Sports agent and Florida insider Darren Heitner shared the information on Twitter:

I’m now hearing that SEC commissioner has chosen to not stand in way of Florida hiring Chip Kelly if he is the school’s selection. Reporting with @biggamejames36.

It remains to be seen if Kelly is indeed Florida’s selection, but it sure sounds like things are heating up. Florida’s vetting of Kelly also serves as another reminder of how desperate SEC teams are to compete with Nick Saban and Alabama.

This is 'standard' for us. TN and Florida have fired their coaches in the last few weeks and they have already jocked ahead of Olé Miss in their searches. We are sitting around the campfire talking about how much Luke loves Olé Miss. Besides, he did coach us to 50wins, (against a bunch of Junior High teams) and the line still struggled to block and the defense couldn't tackle an old lady.

I don't get why people think Bjork hasn't already figured out who he is wanting to hire. Ole Miss isn't behind in the coaching search at all.

Texas A&M: Dan Wolken reports that Texas A&M is “expected to” gauge the interest of Jimbo Fisher “once its separation from current coach Kevin Sumlin is official at the end of the season.”

Weird that A&M would go after Fisher. I'm sure FSU would be happy to get rid of him with someone else buying out his contract. I'll also say this about Kelly if he gets hired - he won't have the Nike money and all of the extra benefits he got recruiting while at Oregon.

True, but he'll have his Oregon reputation and prime, PRIME, recruiting grounds. That's a mighty good jump start.

Jon Gruden: Gruden noted on Mike and Mike that he hasn’t talked with anyone about a return to coaching but “you never say never to nothing,” and added that he isn’t ready to say he won’t coach again.
Florida: On the Buddy Martin Radio Show, Steve Spurrier noted that he believes the Gators will have “an excellent coach here in 3-4 weeks,” and then added; “The coach is with his team now. The coach we’re going to hire is probably, I would almost 100 percent say is coaching his team today, this weekend, and through the end of the season, and maybe through the bowl game.”

If Bjork 'has his man', then he should step it up. If y'all are so sure he has it in the works, why wait. If the man wants the job, is he going to wait to see what happens with the NCAA? If that's the case, Bjork doesn't really have his man. No one else seems to be hesitating, but you can count on us drag assing .

If OM beats state in the EB , I'm looking for Luke to be HC.
