Not long after he was named Chancellor, I attended a relatively small gathering of alumni where Vitter and his wife were present. I came home and told my wife I was not impressed with either Vitter or his wife. This was a gathering of "ordinary" alums, not any people with a lot of money or influence. Vitter and his wife seemed bored and inattentive when a number of us introduced ourselves after the meeting. I was not the only one who left with a negative impression.

Until we change the way we hire chancellors not much will change. There are members on that 'hiring outfit' who are not the least bit interested in hiring the best candidate for OM....and I am being VERY tactful in the way I said that.....

There's trying too hard, there's just being an outright douche, and then there's whatever that was.

I agree with all that has been said here regarding Vitter, however, he has resisted the push to remove the Confederate monuments and hasn't pushed to change either "Rebels" or "Ole Miss." Now he has pushed out Dixie along with Bjork but at least we have something. I fully expected him to change all of that when he was hired. Now... he may just decide one day to clean away everything else but it hasn't happened yet.

Just a matter of time. I remember when the book store stopped selling flags.....I made the comment then "camel's nose under the tent....they'll roll up our whole southern persona and kill off 1 piece at a time....." And all the time saying "oh, just give us this and we won't need another"..... Uh-Huh and every time the camel takes more of the tent.....

Vitter needs to go. Who hired him anyway? What will it take to get rid of him?

"We" didn't hire him....the college board (made up of a lot of non-OM people who outnumber the OM folks on the board) did..... Now what could go wrong?

Yes, that group wants us pronounced 'dead' almost as much as the NCAA. Vetter is a puppet and I really don't think he give a s*** about Ole Miss. He's drawing a check.
