Re: seems to be a lot of chatter

I watch a particular MSU message board only because they seem to have an inside source. Some of their threads are ridiculous. It's amazing to see how much they hate us. They want it to drag out as long as possible because they know the uncertainty is hurting our program. Then they want "the hammer" to come down on us. What makes them hate us so much is beyond me. In the past, I would even root for MSU if they played other teams just because half of my family are MSU sided. All of this has turned me against them. I hope they never win another game again and I really hope that they are found to have colluded in this whole mess and get held accountable for it, because I believe that is exactly what happened. What the NCAA found on us is peanuts. It's really amazing to me how clean our program is since the NCAA camped out in Oxford for 6 years. I bet they would find a lot more in most other SEC towns if similar investigations were held.

Re: seems to be a lot of chatter

Well, unfortunately, it looks like I am correct. This thing hasn't been released today and so it drags on. Hopefully, they will surprise us and release it later in the day but I would think that if so, it would have been done first thing in the morning or midday. On the NCAA website, most of the releases were done at noon and there were a couple that were release at 10am. I didn't see anything that was released after.

after reading your post, i got the picture of the scene in Christmas Vacation, where Clark was at his wits end.  everything was going ape crap around him as he was waiting for his bonus.  then a knock at the door brought this geeky delivery guy with the "envelope" that ended up bringing bad news...

I can imagine that happening to us.  Some crappy administrative mishap has kept us from learning our fate.  Hopefully it does not require cousin eddy or kidnappings but I would like the happy ending..

Well, given that the university in question is notified 24 hours before the release I would expect word would leak out of an impending announce once notification came in to OM....So I'm thinking, since the official announcements/revelations from the NCAA seem to come out on Friday's we'll see some flurry on social media on a Thursday afternoon or evening.

I didn't figure we'd hear anything this soon....they're going to prolong this as long as they can in order to do even more damage to the program.  If they can postpone long enough it will put a serious weight on our search for a coach.....MORE DAMAGE beyond the coming penalties....

here is the deal with "draggin it out".  it makes no sense for issues to get worse the longer it goes on.  The investigation is over.  The evidence is out there, the defense has been heard.  If it was cut and dried, we would have heard the outcome a long time ago.

I now feel the reason this thing is running long is because the NCAA is doing an internal investigation on their own.  I feel that just maybe, the people in charge see their rogue enforcement staff may be been over zealous and has been working internally to address these issues and to review in a more objective manor the actual allegations.

I mean, come on.  some of the high level accusations the ncaa tried to hit us with is outrageous.   letting a kid sleep on a couch even when he has a place to live on campus is a violation?  Are you serious?  I have said this 100 times over, what the investigators concocted was 90% self reported nonsense that would have resulted in year over year self imposed penalties.  But they were not having that.  They tried to stack a load of mole hills on top of each other and are trying to call it a mountain.

screw that, I am starting to believe we may have been able to point out their over zealous witch hunt and the big wigs can't hide it so they are having to get all their I's and T's tended to before they come out with the verdict.  If it was bad, it would have already come out.  I think it is not going to be as bad as the rest of us are fearing.  I believe they will find that the investigation was unfair, over bearing and intended to inflict as much destruction as possible and our penalties will take this into account...

That is a logical thought process.  Unfortunately, that probably means you are wrong.

Re: seems to be a lot of chatter

Yeah, I bet the NCAA is so torn up about the way we have been treated, they may rule to let us have some extra scholarships to make up for their wrongdoing.  They will also allow us to count a couple of our loses this year as wins and make us bowl eligable.  They want ole Miss castrated!  When the NCAA has a heart or conscience - well it ain't going to happen, not for us anyway.  Sorry, for being so pessimistic.  Hope yoou are right and I am wrong.
