Remembering D-Day, June 6, 1944

Today, we remember D-Day which happened on June 6, 1944, when over 156,000 Allied troops from the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, and other Allied nations stormed the five beaches along the Normandy beaches of France to begin the liberation of Western Europe from Nazi Germany occupantion. It was a day of unimaginable courage, sacrifice, and resolve. These soldiers did not fight for fame or recognition. They fought because it was the right thing to do. Let us honor the heroes who faced the impossible, many of whom never returned, and recommit ourselves to preserving the freedom they fought to defend.
