With the Ole Miss Rebels reaching the halfway point of their 2023 season, with a 5-1 (2-1 SEC) record, it’s time to take a small look at the 2024 season roster-wise. What better time than a bye week after already playing six games too?
The true freshmen that have played through their redshirt eligibility have had to play just one snap in over four different games. The true freshmen that have done so are WR Ayden Williams, DB Ahmad ‘AJ’ Brown and LB Suntarine Perkins. All three have seen in-game action in at least five games.
Williams saw his fair share of snaps earlier in the season than in recent weeks. In Ole Miss’ home season opener, Williams made his Rebel debut and hauled in two receptions for 47 yards. His longest reception of the season came that same afternoon, when he caught a 43-yard pass from Spencer Sanders. Two weeks later against Georgia Tech, Williams saw action again and caught one pass for 19 yards. He hasn’t made a catch since, but has still seen action. Since Week 4 he’s seen minimal snaps. Still, he’s played in five of Ole Miss’ six games up to this point.
Although Brown has yet to record a single tackle on the defensive side of the ball, he’s still seen action. Whether it’s been in a couple of defensive snaps in blowout games or snaps on special teams, he’s seen at least one snap in all of Ole Miss’ six games. He’ll be a sophomore next season.
Linebacker Sunatrine Perkins has lived up to the hefty expectations at this point in his young Rebel career. The Magnolia State native was the No. 1 player in the state coming out of high school last spring. Ole Miss ended up securing his services over just about everybody, including Alabama. So far, the Rebels have needed Perkins in every game this season and it just seems like he finds a way to make a play every time he steps onto the field. Through six games Perkins has registered 24 total tackles, 3.5 sacks (leads team) and a pass deflection.
Freshmen still eligible for redshirts; RB Kedrick Reescano, DL Jamarious Brown, TE Jayvontay Conner, OL Brycen Sanders, WR Cayden Lee, DE DeeJay Holmes, DE Chamberlain Campbell, DB Daniel Demery, QB Austin Simmons, LB Skielar Mann, OL Ethan Fields.

Thanks for providing that. Perkins has looked great as a true freshman. He has a chance to be really special.
Interesting list of seniors that can return - lots of talent that we are depending on and would have to replace. I'm hoping we can get several back for next season.
How are your Aggies doing healthwise? I know Weigman is out for the season - which is a real shame. The young man was putting together a really good season before that foot injury.
