Kermit Davis fired?
No big secret it was coming but interesting timing if so..

My guess is Kermit didn't want to do the respectful thing and announce he's stepping away, so he got axed instead.
Dude ended up with a 74-79 overall record. AK was 245–156. Firing him was a huge mistake, IMO.

Neal and Chase are saying he was offered the chance to finish the season but decline
Gotta disagree on AK - his tenure had run its course and 2 NCAAT’s in the number of years he was at Ole Miss just isn’t good enough for a Power 5 program

I have seen folks floating around Will Wade's name - I really hope Keith doesn't go that route.

Yea me too — just too much of a risk there…it’s still very possible he’ll wind up with a show cause.
Honestly wouldn’t surprise me if Sankey stepped in and “discouraged” his hire like he did with Freeze for a few years

Kermit should have been fired several seasons ago. He was not offered top program jobs at MTSU and was stuck there. Although he did a decent job there, it was apparent he was not a Power 5 coach. Now Ole Miss can hire a quality basketball coach and make the program more respectable. Some good candidates are mentioned as potential candidates, but the hire could be another WAOM hire. It would be good to give Chris Beard a chance. He seems to be one of the best candidates available, although his recent issues, which were dropped, could produce enough baggage to keep him out of Oxford.
