Re: Powe case gets weirder...

What a puss. Exactly how you would picture a con artist theif.

I wish Powe would not have bit on his trap to get him arrested.

But man I wish this was the old days wjen they could just lock this guy in a room with Powe.

Re: Powe case gets weirder...

So, it was basically that Powe and others got conned out of money, so they grabbed the dude to get their money back (when he didn't give it back) and the con man reported him for kidnapping. I had a feeling that there was something going on with this case. The prosecutor should dismiss this - but he likely want as what happened was illegally. This would be a great case for a juror to use Jury Nullification.

Re: Powe case gets weirder...

Powe and the other schemed investors could have reported the incident to the FBI and the SEC.  Most likely they would press charges, imprison the perp, and make him repay the schemed money.  There is no doubt that he has a stash of cash somewhere.

Re: Powe case gets weirder...

Unfortunately that situation, it would take a few years for their to be a resolution in the case. You can bet the con man wouldn’t have a dime by then.

I am sure Powe and his partners understood them getting their money back waa a very slim chance and that is why they took such drastic measures.

Just terrible to be in that situation, you are basically going to lose that money in all scenarios

Re: Powe case gets weirder...

So who rented the Tesla and why?  This seems like a waste of money, especially if you are dealing with a scammer.  One other big charge that could be put on the scammer is tax evasion.  The IRS does not take kindly to people who are not paying their correct tax amounts.  You can almost be assured that Mathis did not pay his taxes correctly.
