He should do well at Rocky Top as long as he is not distracted.

Re: We sit and wait while others are making moves.....

In the last 5-7 years the trend has been to fire coaches sooner and sooner.  It has gone from two distinct seasons, football and then the coaching carousel, to what you see happening now.  For the sake of keeping up with the Jones coaches are given ridiculous contract extensions and raises only to be fired the next mid-season when it's proven they didn't deserve the first contract they ever received.  That's why the average fan can hardly afford to go to a couple of games any more much less buy season tickets.  It's why it has become more and more meaningless to me, personally speaking.

Re: We sit and wait while others are making moves.....

The amount of money paid to college football coaches has become absurd.  Even if the coaches have a down season, they still get a big paycheck and often a raise.  Why do colleges not base coachs' salaries on performance?  In the real world only a few coaches would survive with performance reviews providing a direct correlation to amount of pay.

More on Petrino actual win/loss record vs conjecture:
His record at Arkansas since that is relevant to Ole Miss, SEC and specifically the SEC:
2008 5-7
2009 8-5
2010 10-2
2011 11-2The Hogs concluded the 2011 season with an 11-2 record, with their only losses to Alabama and LSU. It was just the third 11-win season in Arkansas' 119-year football history.Very similar trajectory Freeze enjoyed and ironically similar fall from grace.
He's 72-26 at Louisville in two tenures and counting.  Has had a string of uber successful college QB's going way back to his days as an OC.
Let me be clear I am not a fan of Petrino.  I think he's a jerk.  That said you cannot argue he can't win in the SEC.  I mean look at what Arkansas was before and even after he left.  Need I say more?  What had Louisville done before he got there or while he was gone?  I would argue Charlie Strong enjoyed his success at Louisville simply due to Petrino's players.  Yes I hear he guts a program's athletes and does nothing to build a program yet his record says otherwise.

Re: We sit and wait while others are making moves.....

Petrino is a really good coach. His record speaks for itself. I agree on all points except the one on Charlie Strong. Strong’s record at Louisville:
2010   7-6
2011   7-6
2012   11-2
2013   12-1

So I think Strong is a solid coach as well, but he obviously didn’t do well in the Austin environment.

Louisville has become a solid program. They have big donors with deep pockets.

Give me Greg Schiano.  Proven HC.  Great coordinator for OSU.  Sign him up

Hell no. He left Rutgers just before they get hammered with penalties that occurred under his watch. He bombed out at Tampa bay and quietly slid back in under Meyer at Ohio st. If he doesn’t go pro I’d bet he would have gotten a show cause.
Similar to chip Kelly with baggage.
There’s lot better candidates who won’t bring the baggage.
