Marcel Reed decommitted took the money for A&M

So much for his statement that he'd still be going to Ole Miss even if Lane left. Looks like A&M broke out the $$$. This one hurts. He was a priority.

This is about par for the course.  In today's world of college football there is no such thing as commitment and honor.  Now its all about money.  Greed and money have changed college football as we once knew it.

This one is beyond frustrating. Kid had been committed to us for a long while. You could tell something was up on his Twitter feed when on 12/09 - he tweeted "What's the word? #NIL".

NIL has become just a way for programs to legally buy players. Kid decided to flip with less than 2 days before early signing period. Hope he enjoys that money.

Lane retweeted Reed's "NIL" tweet and then retweeted Reed's commitment to A&M tweet right afterwards - pretty much saying what everyone else has been saying the last couple of years that players are straight up being bought.

Re: Marcel Reed decommitted took the money for A&M

I posted this summer his dad and I were HS teammates.  I always knew if A&M really pushed that is where he would be. He has a TON of family in Houston, Dallas and East Texas.

A&M really started pushing about 2 weeks ago.

I know people will say A&M paid this or that. They are giving the same NIL deal that OM collective was offering.   He wasn’t isnt a 5 start that you break the bank for.

He is a player that I feel will end up never playing for A&M as he will transfer after a couple of years when A&M brings in a better player next year.

Jimbo most likely won't be using Reed since he has that other QB tghat will only be a Sophomore this coming year.  Jimbo doesn't need him, but he'd rather burn a scholarship and spend some NIL money on him rather than let him go to Ole Miss.

Payback is hell.  Lane will be looking for a way to stick it to Jimbo.

You're right - just sucks for us. Our QB room has no depth, and that's why we really needed Reed. I'm sure Lane will get it figured out though.
