Re: Leach

I took his death a lot harder than I expected. It really surprised me. He seemed like a genuinely good guy and I'll miss him.

Re: Leach

Fantastic story Rock - thanks for sharing that.

I remember when his book came out and I bought, I really didn't know much about him. I knew his offenses were lights out and the whole Craig James' kid nonsense. His book was a great read and great insight into his philosophy on offense - that's utilizing the entire field, spreading the defense out. I was impressed with how he "spoke" throughout his book. Guy just seemed to likable. The book went into his personal life, and folks got a chance to learn more about it.

When we hired Lane and State hired Leach, both of them were able to get the toxicity of the Egg Bowl to chill out. Things had gotten really bad between the fanbases - thanks for Mullin's mouth and the ratting on us. But, the fanbases got to see those two getting along great and that really helped out in a rivalry that was becoming a bit too toxic.

One thing I read was that the college hall of fame criteria requires a .600 winning percentage. Leach is 3 wins short of that - but I am hoping they change the criteria because he had such a huge impact on the game that he absolutely deserves to be recognized.

Re: Leach

Leach deserved the HOF just from his innovations and influence on the game of football.  Maybe someone can look through his record and find a team to disqualify to give Leach the win.  This is a job for Rosebutt!!!
