    This is what you get when you cannot finish the season in November.  Three straight losses, one to a top 10 Alabama team, a big-time whipping by an unrated Arkansas team, and a loss to in-state arch-rival Moo U cost Ole Miss a trip to a higher-tier bowl, possibly in Florida.  At least the Rebels are bowling.  Just a few years ago, sitting at home during the Bowl Season was normal.  Hopefully, the team will show up for this game.

    I’ve seen a lot of folks melting down on other boards about this — my thing is Ole Miss has no one to blame but itself — I’m sure they would’ve preferred the Gator Bowl or Outback — maybe even the Music City (my preference) but when you close out the season with a whimper — can’t be too picky.

    Having said that playing TTU is kind of old — played then several times over the years

    According to the bowl payouts on this link, the Texas bowl is $6.4 milllion which is the same as the outback bowl and over $1 million more than the gator bowl.  Significantly more than music city, Liberty, etc.

    I’m assuming we were last in the pecking order of the 8-4 SEC teams and I would have loved to go to a more prestigious bowl game.  But, according to the payouts, we could have done worse.

    Hopefully, now that the coaching saga is over, we come out and win it and build some momentum for recruiting and next season.
