Coaching Scenario

If Lane Kiffin were to stay at Ole Miss, Ole Miss should still possibly pursue hiring Luke Fickell.  It would be great to see Lane not accept the job at Auburn, Ole Miss hire Fickell, and then fire Lane.  There is no doubt that if Kiffin stays, he will be job hunting again next year.  Kiffin has severely damaged his reputation with the Ole Miss administration, many players, and the fan base.

Re: Coaching Scenario

Which came first in “Job Hunting”; Auburn pursuing Lane, or Lane pursuing Auburn?  If it is the former, can’t blame a guy for listening.  This is to be expected when we have a successful coach, whether it is Kiffin or anyone else.

Re: Coaching Scenario

At the end of the day, if Lane bolts for Auburn, then that's going to undo all of the rehabbing of his image that has been done. His public comments, everything he's said on Twitter, to the players, etc..., will just reinforce the idea that it's all about him.

I'm just tired of the drama. It really has taken away from the joy, as a fan, of the season.

Re: Coaching Scenario

Suits me if he leaves today.  I've had enough of the guy.

This would not be smart. We would be on the hook for the rest of his contract payments. Lane may be different and stubborn about keeping his mouth shut but if he does choose to stay then he is choosing to stay and choosing Ole Miss over Auburn.

That beatdown by a 5-5 Arkansas team deflated the season for me — that and really think about it — who’s our best win? A Kentucky team that will finish with at least 5 losses including a loss to Vandy? And if their ST hadn’t had a really bad day that would have been a loss

Re: Coaching Scenario

This whole scenario has been completely bizarre to say the least.  Lane isn’t looking great right now but who knows what is actually going on behind the scenes.  But we all should want Kiffin to stay.  He has us on the cusp of being a yearly playoff contender.  That is without being even close to matching the talent of LSU, Bama, etc YET.  He has improved the roster significantly and will continue to do so.  If he leaves, man that sucks.  But if we can keep him, let’s just ride the wave of success.  We can’t even think about replacing him if he doesn’t leave for Auburn.  That would be almost as bad as hiring Matt Luke.

Re: Coaching Scenario

Latest rumors in hearing is Lane is staying and told the team and staff that unless something significant happens, he's gonna be returning. Seems Auburn beat writers are leaving towards them hiring Freeze at this point.
