Who else? We fired everyone else that I can recall.

I was thinking last night....the only way OM can be forced to 'move' is to lose badly enough and get truly embarassed to pull the trigger.....then and ONLY then are we likely to do what's necessary.....and we need to look higher than the HC and coordinators......  The problem that I see is the people who do the hiring of our 'leadership' at the highest level don't necessarily have our best interests at heart.... They seem more worried about holding us back so we don't completely outclass the other 2 universities.....

IMO we need OM people ONLY doing the hiring of our chancellor....  I don't see that happening in this political environment.  It is the equivalent of draining the swamp in D.C.  Only we have a state swamp variety and we don't get a vote unlike a presidential election...  The state swamp creatures will not let go of their power willingly.

Sooooooo, I don't look for much to change and we'll keep repeating the failed model and reloading with a new coach every 3-4 years.

This model seems to be the model of choice.  Unfortunately, history repeats itself and Ole Miss does not, is not, and has not set itself up for success like other big schools.

Re: McElwain on the way out at Florida?

I would love to see us break away from the IHL and hire a board of regents like other schools have.  If it means we have to forego any state funding then so be it.  We would then be free of the chains to currently bind us but also work against us at every front.
I don't know all of the particulars but this is the solution to that problem.

Re: McElwain on the way out at Florida?

The IHL has consistently held Ole Miss.  Some instances include not allowing the North End Zone to be a copy of the South End Zone and not pushing the NCAA to make a hasty decision in their Ole Miss case.  When you have people from other schools like Moo U and Southern Miss who despise Ole Miss, how can an unbiased decision be made about the positive progress of Ole Miss?  Do you think some leg humper would vote for Ole Miss to hire a head coach who might leave them in the dust?

Supposedly the IHL gives all Mississippi Universities equal representation and funding.  The fact is that some of the lower tier schools would not be funded as well as Ole Miss because Ole Miss donors create a big revenue stream for the University which is counted against Ole Miss when they receive state funding.  With the current model, Ole Miss is forced to accept the decisions of the IHL whenever they want to do most anything for the school.  As mentioned above, many of these decisions are made by people who are alumin from schools that want to see Ole Miss fail while their school prosper.

It would be great to get away from the IHL and have our own board of trustees.  If you look at bigger successful schools like Alabama, Auburn, Tennessee, and Georgia, they have their own Board of Trustees to govern activities associated with their school.  If Ole Miss had its own Board of Trustees comprised of Ole Miss alums, then bad Chancellor hires, like Vitter would not be made.  In addition, Ole Miss could spend its money how it wanted to spend it.  If it is doable, Ole Miss needs to get out of the IHL and have its own Board of Trustees, but politically this will probably never happen.
