Vanderbilt football kickoff time, TV schedule announced for Ole Miss game on Oct. 8
Vanderbilt football's Oct. 8 home game against Ole Miss will kick off at 3 p.m. CT on SEC Network, the conference announced Monday.
This will be the second afternoon kick of the season for the Commodores (3-2, 0-1 SEC), who are off this week. The Rebels (4-0) will face Kentucky before heading to Nashville. Northern Illinois was also an afternoon kickoff. Both of Vanderbilt's conference games so far have been on SEC Network.
Vanderbilt is in the midst of its toughest stretch of the season. The Ole Miss game is the only home contest in a five-game stretch that also included trips to Northern Illinois (a win) and Alabama (a blowout loss) and, after the Rebels games, trips to Georgia and Missouri.
The Commodores' open week is the earliest of any team in the SEC, shared with Tennessee, which is also off this week.

I really wish we could have some night games earlier in the season.

Do we even get to turn on the lights this year?

It’s a long season yet with home games against Auburn, Alabama and MSU to go - we know MSU will be at night (Thanksgiving) and that AU game May be a 6:00 game
Alabama game - maybe 2:30 CBS depending on how our season is going at that point but may be a night game

Now that TV dictates game times, the school does not have much of a say in the times. Also, if they don't take the time slots, they miss out on the TV money. Everyone in college football is bowing down to the dollar.
