So, the for sure ones:
1. Ole Miss
2. TN
3. Florida
Very possible:
4. A&M
5. Arkansas
Doubtful, but fans aren't happy:
6. Auburn
Hoping we are making contacts and getting ahead of the curve. Could be a bunch of new faces after this season.

The more important question is, with the mess that defines this program right now, where will Ole Miss be in the pecking order in terms of interest? Out of the list above, my money says #6.

Moo U once Mullins leaves
Missouri?
Hopefully we won't be settling for another D Line coach.

Ole Miss will be the last choice of many quality coaches. They will be the choice of someone who wants to become a head coach at a Power Five school, but behind UT, FL, TAMU, and AR, Ole Miss will be the lesser choice. A lot of it has to do with both administration and fan support.

Another “up-and-comer” from the Sun belt conference for Ole Miss.

Ole Miss missed the boat by not offering the interim head coaching position to Dan Werner. Werner was a sacrificial lamb to Freeze and also Freeze knew that Werner was experienced enough to replace him. This was an intimidation factor for Freeze, so he cut the ties. Werner would have been a good coach during the transition, had a steady offensive scheme, and was a great QB coach. You can be assured that Patterson thought he would be developed as a QB by Werner and not some gimmicky play calling sandlot coach like Lingo.

Totally disagree on several points Fish.
One Ole Miss is not viewed as a lesser choice. Coaches are no different than recruits when it comes to long term memory. They don't have one. Their livelihoods are based on their most recent performance as well as those they are interested in joining. Players want immediate playing time and a system that highlights their skills. Coaches want good money and a support system to ensure they have the tools to be successful.
Ole Miss provides all of that. HF would have been the #11 highest paid coach in College Football this season. Money won't be an issue. Bjork will make sure the new coach has what he needs to be successful or Bjork will be on the auction block next. Our fans have proven they will support a winner. We may have some issues in the Admin to clean up such as Vitter and his disdain for AK or meddling. I think that will be addressed.
Dan Werner would have made zero sense as the interim HC. Think about it. You got half a staff that is new and half that is tenured give or take. Rather than promote one of them already on the staff you bring in a guy the previous HC fired to be the Interim HC over the OC newly hired? Yeah no. Luke made the most sense of all of the coaches on our staff to be the interim. It was going to be a train wreck regardless. I'm not sure McGriff would have been any better because his defense would still be terrible.
I don't think at any point Werner was viewed as a threat. He was viewed as outdated in his offensive philosophy. Wished we could have kept him as the QB coach but that wasn't feasible.
No doubt we don't have Shea Patterson if Werner wasn't the QB coach previously.
Now that said.
Current and Potential Openings in the SEC:
Missouri
Arkansas
MooU
Ole Miss
A&M
Auburn
Vanderbilt
Kentucky
Tennessee
Florida
We may see Malzahn come home to Arkansas. Nothing soothes bitter feelings like a pile of cash and hope for Petrino esque resurgence.
McElwain is out. All but a foregone conclusion at this point. He ends up in the Pac12 somewhere. Possibly Oregon St.
We think we have issues at Ole Miss. Then there is the dumpster fire both athletically and politically at Mizzou. Will be tough for them to find a dynamic HC.
Mullen likely ends up at Florida. Freeze likely ends up at Tennessee. How ironic would that be that they both move and end up as bitter rivals again.
Auburn being Auburn they throw the money at Chip Kelly. Perfect fit along with their BB coach as both being dirty.
Stoops moves on from Kentucky. Not sure where at this point but I think he will bail on a high note.
Mason steps down at Vandy and where he ends up I'm not sure.
If Ole Miss has to borrow the money I hope they go to Ames, IA and hire the next HC. Dude is a winner like none other. Two top 5 wins in this season alone. Buyout be damned. At some point you have to consider lost revenue for this current shitshow as money well spent towards a great hire. Our fans want confirmation we aren't going to pull a WAOM move here. If they do then all of what Fish suggested above is confirmed and I'll admit I was a fool for thinking otherwise. From a business standpoint alone it just makes zero sense to not hire the best available. I do like that Turnkey cannot be retained by anyone else in the SEC while they are employed by us. Smart move. Many don't like or trust Bjork. I like what I see so far.
That is just within the SEC. The coaching carousel is about to kick into hyperdrive across the country.
I also like Norvell as our next HC as well. I'm sure there are others but those are the two most appealing to me at the moment.
