Thinking about heading there this Fall or next Spring - staying in Rapid City and airy looks like The Badlands National Park, Mt Rushmore and the Black Hills are the attractions- I’ll probably stay 3 or 4 full days - just wondering if anyone knows anything else knows any must-sees out that way. I’m going to drive it from Desoto County so I have to figure that time in to

My sister and brother-in-law went out to Yellowstone and back up through that area. According to them, what ever you do or where you go, it will be worthwhile.

Gotta stop at Wall Drug if you are going to be in that area. You will see signs for 100's of miles. Yes it is a tourist trap but last time we stopped, breakfast in the restaurant was pretty good. Also stop and see the Minuteman Missile National Historic Museum. That I truly enjoyed. It's spread out a little bit, believe 15 miles between the control center and the missile silo but well worth the time spent. There are numerous tourist type places to stop if you have kids and see things from bears, to reptiles to dinosaurs. Plus the city of Keystone and Mount Rushmore are great places to enjoy. Enjoy the trip.

The Crazy Horse monument is interesting to see too. It's a work in progress but was worth the stop. A trip through Deadwood while your nearby is cool too. We went to the Badlands 3 yrs. ago and enjoyed it. The landscape is so amazing to explore. Beautiful country out that way. Enjoy.

We went out several years ago and it was a great trip. We stopped in Sioux Falls, SD - a beautiful city park there. Wall Drugs is very touristy, but worth a stop. 5¢ cuppa good coffee. The Badlands is definitely worth a stop; unbelievable that people actually lived in those conditions. Watch out for rattlesnakes. A short detour to Mitchell, SD will take you to the Corn Palace. Well worth seeing. Of course, Mt. Rushmore, and drive through nearby Custer State Park. Beautiful scenery and rock formations. Several narrow tunnels in the park, so if you are in a camper, check dimensions first. Crazy Horse sculpture is a must see. The story is nothing short of fantastic, and there is an excellent Native American museum on site. We spent a whole day there. Be sure to take some souvenir rocks from the carving on the mountain. They are free, or for a small donation. Enjoy the trip.
