At least we won't have to worry about being let down during the post season.
I am really thinking that the team has quit on Bianco. When Mike tried desperately to get the LSU job last year, and he didn't get it, I really think he quit caring. If you have watched the team much this year, their body language kinda tells the story. The kids aren't super fired up, they aren't yelling and jumping around - they are going through the motions.
Mike's coaching this year has been, by far, the worst he has ever done at Ole Miss. His decisions when it comes to the pitching staff have been horrible. When you don't even throw the best pitchers, then you aren't giving your team a chance.
At the plate - that's all on the players and they are hurting themselves. I don't know what has happened during the offseason, or what has changed during practices. But, these kids simply aren't swinging well at all. You have guys trying to pulling everything and trying to hit massive HR's. You aren't seeing kids just trying to drive the ball. Last night, we had a defensive lineman jack a HR for the first score of the game to keep us from getting run ruled. Speaking of which, Malone is batting .444 (4-9) with 2 HR's, 1 BB, and 3 K's.
Key guys are regressing at the plate:
Peyton Chatagnier:
2021 - .271
2022 - .230
Jacob Conzalez:
2021 - .355
2022 - .278
Hayden Dunhurst
2021 - .280
2022 - .222
Kevin Graham
2021 - .342
2022 - .250
Elko is really the only guy that hasn't seen a big drop. He was in a slump earlier, but has brought his average back up to where it normally is. Clement is the hitting coach, and he has been around for a long while, so I dunno if he has changed something this year or not. But, there has been a decline from key players hitting.
At the end of the day - this all falls on Bianco. In year 22, he has taken a very talented roster and has totally tanked. Keith needs to have a talk with him and ask him to announce his retirement. And, that's really what needs to happen. Have Mike come out and say he's retiring after this season so we can work on hiring someone like Dan. If Mike doesn't do that, then he's just working for a buyout.

Mike & Keith will get a very strong and clear message at the end of the season. I believe there will be a great exodus of players to the transfer portal. The starters will either turn pro or look for greener pastures and a lot of the players on the bench will look for a place to start and begin a new career on another campus. The young arms of pitchers will transfer. Either Mike or his successor will have to build a new team. I hope I'm wrong but in this crazy college world of NIL, I just don't see a lot of kids waiting around for next year and another hopeless mediocre season under a "know it all" joker for a coach.

I honestly hope that Swayze isn't sold out during the State series, and that State sweeps us. I think that might be the only way we can ensure that Bianco will be toast.
And you're right - after this season, there's gonna be some serious work to be done by whoever the HC is. I'm still hoping that Keith offers Dan a ton of money and makes him say no.

I read somewhere that Elko had liked some tweet that East Carolina coach Godwin had tweeted
