will say OM fought hard, should have won, was a fluke loss, etc.
But with a 24 point lead with 11:52 left in the 2nd qt and lose, just another embarrassment to follow up the L$U embarrassment a week ago, following up the Cal embarrassment earlier this year.
After that point the offensive play calling and defensive calls should have gotten everyone fired on the spot.
Luke sure loves him some FG's. I posted this after the l$u cowardly approach, you have a team that is not going to a bowl game and you are coaching scared, to keep it close. Grow some balls. Get your team fired up behind you and show some confidence in them and go for it instead of settling for FG's.
Up 34-28 and you are on the 3 with 9:52 left in the game, 4th and TWO. You dont even have to score, you can get a first down. It is time to load up and go for it. I understand the argument that it puts you up 2 scores, but my argument it #1 back to my you are not going to a bowl argument, #2 you ark is going thru you like butter and 10 min is too much time left in the game to just be a td and fg down #3 since 11:52 in the 2nd qt you have scored a total of 3 pts, so you a FG is going to let them be able to beat you with a td and fg. #4 HAVE some nuts and win the game, you are playing the game with your backup qb.
OK, I am done with rant.
I hope Sumlin doesnt do it normal Luke impersonation tonight against the dogs.

Yeah Rock...you sure did say that.....and in my agreement with your LSU assessment I chimed in....."It's vintage Otis Cutcliff ball"..... That's where ML learned his philosophy.... Maybe Cut will rehire him after the season.......Naaaah even Cut isn't that dumb having escaped that lack of coaching ability previously....

Luke has no balls and neither does the Ole Miss Administration. Rock is right. Ole Miss has nothing to lose, so why not go for it, or do some crazy stuff. The Rebels are bitten by the bad luck bug and just keep shooting themselves in the foot.

Well, I don't believe in bad luck.....I find that "bad luck" is usually a result of poor preparation..... That's not to say that something bad can never happen...but when it happens over and over and over it becomes a pattern and a pattern has a root cause.....
When, in the Navy, there is failure they don't look to blame the seaman....they sack the captain of the ship. We keep sacking the seamen and the 'captain' remains in the command chair using the same lack of skill sets to make more and more poor decisions..... Therefore we can't expect any different results.
That being said, you wonder WHY we can't attract a 'name' coach? What coach, worth his salt, wants to come to work for bosses who have no clue how to run a big time program?

There was one good thing about today's game. It ended any illusion--for those who had it--that Matt Luke would be our HC next season.

I agree -- when this season is over, the coaching staff needs to be completely overhauled...and that includes Luke not coming back either.
Maybe Luke could cut his teeth somewhere at a non power 5 conference and make a good HC -- I don't know, but I do know he's not what Ole Miss needs to rebuild from the mess that Hugh Freeze has left.

I suspect there's a reason that he hasn't been given that opportunity by a non power conference........and I doubt it's because he loves OM so much that he just turns down offers to advance in order to stay put in Oxford....

Thatis so well put... for the second time. put your foot on their throat and don't let off. I'm so damned tired of losing to that fat assed coach on the other side line!

Cut 2.0. Classic. Reminds me of the TxTech game where we had the lead and started kicking FG's before BJ whoever threw for nearly 1000 yards and they passed us out of the stadium. So eerily similar to all the major blowouts we suffered with Cut.

Yep...I'll never forget sitting in Mephirica watching a team QB'd by Eli lose to a crappy Memphis State Teacher's College team....And Cut never broke a sweat.....
