Pretty honest assessment of a dead program really...

Kermit Davis didn’t get an extension this past year and rightfully so. I just don’t see how he makes it past next season. Next year’s team could be as bad if not worse than this past seasons

Unless Kermit takes a note from Lane, and pulls in the top ranked transfer class, there's really not much of a hope for next year's team to be any better. Add to the scheme he has is not one that kids want to play in either.

I agree but my concern would be, if it happened, could this staff manage/develop the players?

It doesn't matter how highly rated the player is, if there is no one to coach the player, then the player will not develop. Rebel fans can only hope for a failed season, a fired coach, and a fresh start in basketball.
