USFL draft

Patterson and Ta'amu go 1-2.

I know many dont like Patterson because he left OM during the crap show that was the end of the Freeze era and the clown show of the beginning of the Luke era.  But I would bet if most of you took your OM glasses off you would see the decision he made as reasonable.  But hate if you like, most know my relationship with him.

Just thought it was neat to have 2 former OM QB's for 1-2.

There were some other OM players drafted yesterday and the draft is today also.

Interesting how they are playing the first season, FOX Sports will be broadcasting the games on all their platforms and all games will be played in Birmingham.  Then they are supposed to send the teams to their respective cities the following year.  Good idea in my mind to get their feet on the ground. So all 8 teams will be staying in B'Ham and playing at UAB's new stadium and Legion Field.
playoffs will be held in Canton, Ohio at HOF stadium because of scheduling conflicts in B'Ham

Re: USFL draft

Honestly, I think the biggest knock I have against Shea is his actively recruiting kids to join him in leaving. But then again, he was a kid. I don't blame him for leaving - nobody in their right mind would have wanted to play under Matt Luke. Any animosity I had for him recruiting guys to leave is in the past, and I chalk that up into him having built bonds with guys on the team.

I know there was also the rumor out there, at the time, saying that Shea was threatening to leave if Luke wasn't retained - but I call BS on that rumor.

I am looking forward to seeing what he and Ta'amu end up doing and if it gets them a shot in the NFL. I know Ta'amu bounced around some in KC and didn't seem to be able to break through. He was doing great in the XFL before the season came to an end. Hopefully the USFL will work - I enjoy having an alternative to the NFL. Also, with Chad Kelly joining the CFL, that's some more football for me to watch this June.

Re: USFL draft

Good luck, Jordan and Shea.  It will be interesting to see how the USFL fares.  With all games in Birmingham, it will be hard to build a local fan base.
