Ole Miss with the #1 portal class

https://247sports.com/Season/2022-Football/TransferTeamRankings/

1 5-star, 6 4-star (with another 4 star possibly on the way). Lane building through free agency and has pulled in an impressive class.

Re: Ole Miss with the #1 portal class

Safe to say that Lane is pumped. If we can keep him long enough, I really think he'll raise the bar for his program. Hope we keep him happy and continue to give him the support he asks for.

Re: Ole Miss with the #1 portal class

Not going to lie, I was upset with lane after the December signing class.  I thought for sure we would have a much better class.  Maybe he got lucky in the portal, but the fact he signed really solid looking coaches and knocked it out of the park in the portal gives me some hope that we may not take as deep of a fall as I feared this year.

Re: Ole Miss with the #1 portal class

Lane Kiffin lost his starting QB and top three RBs following the 2021 season.

He's countered by adding:

—2020 Gatorade National Player of the Year (QB Jaxson Dart)

—No. 2 RB in the 2020 class (Zach Evans)

—No. 3 TE in the 2021 class (Michael Trigg)

Ivey was/is in Oxford and most likely will be a Rebel. We're currently #13 overall:

Once Ivey commits, that should bump us up several more spots.

Re: Ole Miss with the #1 portal class

It makes so much sense to do it Kiffins way now.  How frustrating would it be to land a big high school recruit only to have them jump ship through the portal before they even become a contributor.  Instead, you have less schools going after proven, starter-ready players.  The problem going forward is when other schools start doing the same thing and there are more schools fighting over the portal guys.
