gone. Actually surprised it didnt happen last year. Buckley is a guy who thinks he and his opinion are more important than they are.  What I mean is if you are a position coach, your job is t follow the HC's plan, coach it up and recruit it up.
Buckley is known for being a pretty decent position coach, but lazy recruiter and a legend in his own mind.

From my understanding, he and Kiffin have had many disagreements on how Lane runs things, has been vocal about it to his former boosters and HS coaches in the state.  And it finally came to a head when Kiffin put his plan in to go heavy on the transfer portal and not sign as many HS players. Buckley voiced this to HS coaches and some media. Of course that got back to Lane. Buckley told Kiffin that he felt his word was put in jeopardy with recruits in HS and HS coaches.  Lane reminded him that the only name that he should worry about is Kiffin's as it all falls on him. He reminded him that he had zero authority to offer any kids that he (Kiffin) didnt authorize.


Kiffin basically told him to hit the bricks when he got feedback from HS coaches that Buckley was out running his mouth about Kiffin.


as we see, Kiffin has been 100% correct in going hard after transfer portal guys for 1/2 the class.
