Rawling out likely with concussion protocol

That means we will have the same lineup on the o line that we fielded at Cal.  Remember that one?
In the event that anyone thinks we are just going to line up and run/throw all over the Hogs.  T may not make it to halftime.  Boys brace yourselves this one is going to be as ugly as the forecasted weather.

Re: Rawling out likely with concussion protocol

It's beyond frustrating at how piss poor we are on the OL. If one starter on the OL goes down, then suddenly our entire line has to be jumbled around and it's total chaos. How the hell can that be?????

Looking at the last 4 signing classes for OL:

2017
1. Ben Brown (3 star)
2. Sincere David (3 star)
3. Tony Gray (3 star)

2016
1. Greg Little (5 star)
2. Eli Johnson (3 star)
3. Jack DeFoor (3 star)
4. Chandler Tuitt (3 star)
5. Bryce Matthews (4 star)
6. Royce Newman (3 star)

2015
1. Alex Givens (3 star)
2. Javon Patterson (4 star)
3. Michael Howard (3 star)

2014
1. Jordan Sims (3 star)
2. Tyler Puttman (3 star)
3. Rod Taylor (4 star)
4. Fahn Cooper (3 star)
5. Sean Rawlings (3 star)

So, we have signed a total of 17 OL in the past 4 seasons. Most are 3 star with one 5 star and three 4 star recruits. Our current starting OL for this season (with backups listed) - hopefully I got this right:
LT - Greg Little (Royce Newman)
LG - Javon Patterson (Jack DeFoor)
C - Sean Rawlings (Jordan Sims)
RG - Alex Givens (Daronte Bouldin)
RT - Rod Taylor (Alex Givens)
TE - Dawson Knox

The fact that we have signed 17 guys for the OL, and yet we have "no depth" is laughable at best. The only possible explanation for "how" we have no depth is 100% on Matt Luke. He has been such a colossal failure as a position coach, yet he's making mad cash right now with the interim tag on him. The sooner we can get rid of his ass, the better.

Well shoot....you mean to say all that talk about he's been stocking his cupboard for the past 5 years and that THIS was the year of the all powerful OL was less than true?  Gosh...I'm surprised......shocked I tell ya....</sarcasm off>

Re: Rawling out likely with concussion protocol

It's an annual cycle.  All summer long Chuck and sunshine pumpers tell us how deeply talented this group is and how they have more talent and depth this year than ever before and the versatility of each is unmatched. Preseason hype oozes everywhere.  Then after the first couple of cupcake games we face a real SEC defense or in this case Cal's weak ass Pac12 defense and one kid gets hurt and we are now reduced to a swinging door vs the deep and talented group.  Amazing isn't it?

Re: Rawling out likely with concussion protocol

This alone is why Matt Luke needs to move one. I believe that is enough talent across the OL to run the ball and keep our qb from getting killed.

There are enough bodies and enough depth to be good, Thank you Matt for being a good rebel but we need a real coach.

I wonder if freeze had not screwed up, would he had held Luke accountable for the lack of progress with our OL?  Probably not. Meaning as long as freeze was here, Luke would be a coach.

Re: Rawling out likely with concussion protocol

The inadequacies on the OL are on Matt Luke.  For the past six years this was his position to recruit and coach.  Freeze can also get blamed because he was too blind to see that Luke was not getting the job done and did not replace Luke with a quality OL coach.

Rawlings has to be the most accident prone lineman we have ever had.
