Is anyone else having trouble getting on the combined or either of the old boards now that the combination is complete? Every time I try, I get a big X. Even tried to backdoor through CBS Sports, same big X.
It's not a big loss, but it is aggravating. Besides, they have what's left of my $99..

I had no trouble getting on after the merger. I presume you have the correct address for the combined website. I think you can ask CBS sports for help if you contact their customer service.

No issues for me. I did have to log back in after the merged sites went live.
Have read where some posters who were banned on a state board did not have access to some of the combined boards. Outside of that and the spirit message board heroes bitching because now they have new keyboard warriors contesting for their hierarchy is about it.

Let me guess.....they don't like posts not saturated in kool aid~
Then they sit out in the grove and wonder why we never seem to make it to Hotlanta.......

Nailed it Johnny! It is both enlightening and horrifying to see some of the comments in that message board regarding the state of our football program, coaches, etc. It's good to get a gauge of how far we have to go to change the mindsets of so many. It's hard not to chuckle at some of the ignorance and denial but then you realize they are dead serious and it begins to sink in what we are up against.

We don't get to Atlanta because we either don't have good enough players or coaches -- or a combo of both. Cutcliffe, Nutt and Freeze all had teams good enough, but they managed to drop a game or two somewhere along the way that kept us out.

That is certainly part of it. The other major missing pieces are the falloffs in recruiting we see after said coach has been here a few years. No doubt its harder to be continually successful at Ole Miss than most anywhere else because our margin for error is so razor thin when it comes to making talent evals and recruiting needs. That said it has been done just for not long periods of time. That is where the Admin has to do a better job of reminding our coaching staff of how they got to where they were and what it takes to stay there. Maybe we should offer some type of incentive based contract like a commissioned sales person. You don't sell you don't get paid. In the end its a win for everyone. Freeze's first contract was like this and I have no doubt that is what motivated him to be the best. We see the results. What we have to overcome is the sophomore slumps so to speak of continuing to drive the success. Lots of people want to be successful but few will actually put forth the effort to get there and that is why we have what have in today's society.

I get the idea of an incentive based contract but I don't think it would fly --- coaches want to be paid a salary competitive with their peers....and I can't say I blame them. But, maybe adding some extra incentives would help....I believe OM currently does this, but maybe look at redoing some of the incentives?
