I thought the Connerly winner had to be from Mississippi. So, is it just any player playing in Mississippi?

The Conerly Trophy
The Conerly Trophy is named after the late Charlie Conerly who is the only football inductee in the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame who combines all of the following accomplishments: native Mississippian who was an All-American at a Mississippi university; NFL rookie of the year; NFL All-Pro; quarterbacked a team to a world championship.
THE TROPHY
Sculpted by the late Bruce Brady, a nationally-acclaimed sculptor from Brookhaven, MS; the Conerly Trophy is a lost-wax bronze casting of an original clay sculpture by Mr. Brady; 19" high x 11" long x 7.5" wide; weighs 18.5 lbs.; original Conerly Trophy is on permanent display at the Mississippi Sports Hall of Fame and Museum; an exact replica of the trophy is presented to the winner each year at the announcement dinner.
HISTORY
The award was begun in 1996 and has been sponsored by C Spire Wireless, formerly known as Cellular South, since 1998. Previous presentations have been held in Jackson, Clarksdale, Tunica, and Biloxi. The namesake of the award is Mississippi-born Charlie Conerly who also starred as quarterback at the University of Mississippi, and was later a star for the New York Giants.

Very well deserved. Corral had an awesome season. He may not have had Heisman numbers, but considering all of the injuries he had, along with our WR's, couldn't have asked for any better from him.

I never understood why Charlie was never inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.
