Re: Looks like Brian Kelly to LSU…

Looking at his career numbers —- W/L 263-96-2, it looks like a good on-paper hire. It just seems like a weird fit —- like LSU was looking to hire a big name and that was the primary focus.

But maybe he’ll tear it up at LSU — guess we’ll see

Those numbers prove he is a good football coach, but at the Power 5 level, the "coaching" part is down the list of important things.  RECRUITING, relationships, etc.  That is the issue with this hire. He has a 113-40 record at ND( I dont get into the BS forfeits, he coached and won those games).  that is with all the advantages ND gives you, recruits nationally with unlimited recruiting budget, has it's own network for football, NBC and it's not cable..No conference , play schools that are more based on academics like Boston College, Navy, Stanford ( who has had a very very short run as a top 15 team) in state Purdue, etc. Then they make the bold step of playing 4 ACC teams each year, there is only 1 ACC team any good over they past 10 years in Clemson.  They finally play Clemson in 2020 and it's covid year, Clemson plays without the stud Lawrence and ND gets a ton of calls and still goes to double OT in South Bend and ND wins. Get Clemson again in the ACC title , Lawrence plays and it is a clock cleaning.was 34-3 and ND scored late and made it 34-10.  Then they STILL made the CFB playoff and Bama was up 31-7 and ND scored with :56 left to make it 31-14.  The advantages that ND has had are laughable and it is going to be a new world when he is sitting in a living room with a player and then Saban, Lane, Jimbo and Kirby show up to the same kids house.. lol.
