That’s an interesting one — makes me wonder if they were looking for the biggest name or the best fit

So this means the next talk will be Kiffin to Notre Dame!!!?!??!?!!

LSU just traded a decent head coach that could recruit for a less decent head coach that isn't as good at recruiting.
Hahahahaha!

That really is a weird hire. Seems that when Riley told LSU "no thanks" that they made a panic hire. I think Kelly is a good coach, but he's not at all a "home run hire" type of coach.
Didn't ND get put on probation a couple times under Kelly?

Kelly will be a decent coach, but will not be as good of a recruiter as Coach O. LSU should have some decent seasons, but most likely nothing glamorous. Kelly probably jumped on the money getting $12M per year instead of $7.5M. Also, there is talk about him wanting some better facilities for the student-athletes and Notre Dame was hesitant to do anything. You can almost be assured that LSU will roll out the red carpet and dig deep to find the funds needed to make his wants a reality. Of course, there is still the NCAA stuff that has been swept under the rug, and unfortunately probably nothing much will be done about these actions.

This is a great scenario for OM and A&M. Considering the names that they are after, I am thrilled they picked a 60 ( 61 at the start of the 2022 season) year old white guy, who never has coached in the south, never won anything at Notre Dame and in the couple of times he did get in the CFB playoffs or BCS games because they play nobody, they were rolled by SEC teams or team from the SEC region Clemson. Add that by reports they overpaid by a mile. I couldnt be happier..

I don't know if Kelly understands the culture of the people he is about to have to deal with, which will apply in so many ways - like Rock said recruiting, fan base, administration, etc. LSU will expect Kelly to cheat to whatever degree he needs to in order to win. I don't really see Kelly fitting in that culture for long. Maybe Kelly knows all of this though and this is his short term retirement strategy - 3 or 4 years of $12M and done. Got a feeling the next couple of years at LSU are going to be really stressful for the LSU people.

Looking at his career numbers —- W/L 263-96-2, it looks like a good on-paper hire. It just seems like a weird fit —- like LSU was looking to hire a big name and that was the primary focus.
But maybe he’ll tear it up at LSU — guess we’ll see

They had to vacate all their wins in 2012 and 2013.
