More Miami/Kiffin talk…

It’s not going away….now Feldman is saying Kiffin could be a target (if they can’t get Cristobal from Oregon) and that he believes Kiffin would take the job.

I wish we could get this nailed down if Kiffin will be at Ole Miss in 2022 or not…just to get it resolved and have a definite answer one way or another

Re: More Miami/Kiffin talk…

You can bet it will be handled quickly. Miami either fired Diaz or not Sunday.  If they fire him that means they have been preparing to fire him for a few weeks, since they fired their AD on Nov 15th.  That means back channels have been going on to candidates since then. So I would expect a HC to be named next week at Miami.  In my opinion it will be Cristobal or Kiffin.  Probably go after Mario first since he has history with the program as a former player and asst coach there a few times.

I still see this the only school that lane would maybe leave for, but that is not written in stone.  But He is not going to let this drag out either if they come after him.

Miami wants a coach in place quickly, early signing day is just 2 1/2 weeks away.

Re: More Miami/Kiffin talk…

Guess if it happens it happens — I still say leaving any SEC West job for Miami is a bad move but that doesn’t mean everyone sees it my way.

Just hope we don’t automatically hand the job to Lebby if Kiffin does leave

Re: More Miami/Kiffin talk…

Well, if Lane bolts, that certainly won't help his reputation. Hopefully the rumors are true that Keith offered him a significantly large contract and that'll put a stop to it. Recruiting is taking a hit for us right now, and I can't help think that these Kiffin to <insert school> isn't helping.

If he leaves I see it having zero negative impact on his "reputation".  Other than die hard OM fans and me, the vast majority of CFB fans I am pretty sure would sure understand him taking the Miami job, or LSU/UF/etc

Re: More Miami/Kiffin talk…

Kiffin has done a tremendous job in a short time while at Ole Miss.  He took over a dumpster fire caused by Freeze, Luke, and an NCAA investigation and not only made the program competitive, but he also created positive appeal for the University.  Unfortunately, there may be a day when Kiffin decides to leave and with all the rumors, it could be sooner than later.

I wouldn’t understand any coach leaving an SEC program not named Vanderbilt to go to Miami……that’s just my opinion though

By reputation, I'm meaning not being a long term coach - someone that is always looking to bolt for the next thing. I just don't see Miami as being a step up. In fact, it seems like a step down to leave the SEC for a program like Miami. But who knows, I can't say I'm not bias.

It's nothing but a big raise for Kiffin at Ole Miss. Miami is a career killer. I doubt he would want to go there instead of building on success at zone Miss, especially with a fat contract offer upcoming.
