Seems like he's committing career suicide with his antics at this point. Who would ever want to hire him in the college ranks when he threatens to bring an entire University down with the "I cheated, but everyone else was doing it here too. Now, I'm gonna blackmail ya if you don't pay me."

For $12.6MM, he torches them. If UT thinks he is bluffing, they are idiots.

If he gets that kind of money, then $12.6M > 50 consecutive years of $250,000 annual salary. It's a different kind of suicide.

UT fired Pruitt for cause, so they don't think he's entitled to the money. If I were Pruitt's attorney, I would not have drafted the letter so it looks like Pruitt is trying to extort UT. I don't think the "leak" of this letter helps either UT or Pruitt in the public eye, but it certainly helps UT's enemies. The $64,000 question is who leaked the letter to the media.

If UT is telling him they aren't paying him anyway, he has nothing to lose. He's been smeared already. UT has LOTS to lose. Bet there is a big chunk of change in that settlement/confidentiality agreement.

I always say, universities are idiots for not paying a contract. No matter wrong our right, it is a small price to pay in a billion dollar business. Why play games with people who know where the bodies are burried.
