The fumble called on Corral

Maybe I've had too many beers. That fumble call though - Corral was throwing the ball, the ball went forward, and hit the ground. Why wasn't that called an incompletion? Also, what was up with our receiver getting chopped in the back of the legs out of bounds in front of the official, and no call on that?

Re: The fumble called on Corral

You're exactly right on the late hit. I mentioned the same when it happened. Also a questionable pass interference on our db in the end zone. I do believe, however, that the defensive players hand was already on the ball before Matt's arm went forward making it a fumble.

Remember, the infracting team was Alabama, so the rules of engagement are tweaked for them.

Re: The fumble called on Corral

I do think it was a fumble bc the ball was hit before his arm started going forward.

That no call on the hit out of bounds was one of two turning points in the game.  When we got stuffed on 4th down on the opening drive was the other turning point.  We got behind two scores and started pressing.  It also allowed Bama to just run it.  If we would have gone up on Bama or tied it up, I think they would have felt a little more pressure and tried to get a little more fancy on offense.
